Save Peterborough Embankment
We are a community group battling to stop a publicly-owned green space of 24.97 acres from being sold to private businessmen by Peterborough City Council.
"Posh have spoken of their desire to utilise the Embankment for the project but no firm decision on a location is close at this stage."
We've never been opposed to a new stadium, we just don't want it on public land and he knows that. He doesn't need to meet the council to build on private land!
New football stadium and concern venue is 'common sense' says Posh owner
Not a direct threat to the Embankment so is this good or bad news?
And look at which awesome green space they choose to illustrate the piece.
Cambs city named one of the best in UK for lush green spaces
Hopefully, this will mean more people make use of the Embankment as a green space.
Plans submitted to create new £5m footbridge over the River Nene by summer 2025 The bridge is expected to open in summer 2025.
We need to remind our followers, city council and Paul Bristow MP that we are fiercely against ANY development of the Embankment, not just from the football club, but also the university and any other organization who wishes to show their anti-envrironment and anti-green space credentials by trying to concrete over this essential green space. We will fight tooth and nail against you!!

"Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is one of the most nature-depleted areas in England and it’s critical that we shape nature recovery in the county".
It's obvious how relevant this is to the campaign against building on green space. Please do fill out the survey.
Local Nature Recovery Strategy comes to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are set to have their own Local Nature Recovery Strategy aims to prioritise nature recovery.
The Conservative Party has a survey on where a new Posh stadium should go. Links are on their election leaflets. Take a minute to let them know the Embankment is NOT where it should go! We challenge other political parties to explicitly rule out selling our public land to Posh, the University or any other private company!
You can find the survey here:
New Posh Stadium We all love London Road but know that Peterborough United deserves a new home in Peferborough City Centre.
Good morning from a peaceful Embankment - let's keep it that way!
6am on a Sunday morning.
Politicians have yet to come up with an acceptable site, until then they cannot be taken seriously. The same goes for expanding the university. A campus does not have to be on one site, all decent universities are spread across their home cities.
We will continue to ferociously oppose any development on the Embankment and any attempt to privatise this public access land!
'Strong support' for new Posh stadium from Labour candidate Andrew Pakes Talk of a new Peterborough United stadium on the Embankment has resurfaced.
Oh dear. Another politician after some free publicity and the local paper knows such controversy gets people clicking 🤣 Isn't it wonderful to have a local football club run by people purposely splitting the community by coming up with obviously controversial ideas?
Council leader happy to work with Posh to find site for proposed new stadium Peterborough United first floated plans for a new stadium in 2019.
Nothing new here, just a politician using the issue for his own ends.
Posh are still looking towards building a new multi-use arena on the Embankment Peterborough United have named the Embankment as their preferred site for a new multi-purpose arena.
The video highlights the over-development along the banks until you reach the Embankment field and that shows exactly why it's essential that it is preserved as a green space!
"They would be able to deal with any floods, they would have thought about that" people commented. This fills us full of confidence that would be the case...

The Embankment in the recent floods.
It seems they haven't given up on the Embankment, but we see no immediate threat. The club just likes to appease fans every now and then.
New Posh stadium still planned, but megastore and catering changes confirmed Peterborough United majority owner Darragh MacAnthony has said he still wants to create a ‘centrepiece’ new stadium in the city.

With existing car parks closing all over the city, a new one looks just about finished. This out of place carbuncle is taking up valuable green space off Bishops Road. We certainly cannot allow any more green space in that area to be lost.
Ironically, the Regional Pool which it will serve is currently closed during the school holidays 🤦
It's nearly time!
The city's biggest event of the year is almost set up and ready to go on the Embankment!
What a glorious sight!
🦺 The build volunteers have been hard at work this morning down on The Embankment and the site is coming along nicely.

"We need to look after the city centre, and I think the Embankment is a real treasure that we have, which I don’t think we make the best use of, so lets hope this will look nice, and we want to get a few more things down the Embankment so people use it more, why have something that beautiful and not use it.”
