WE SAID WE HAD SOMETHING BIG TO ANNOUNCE AND WE ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THANKS TO THE DEPARTMENT FOR CULTURE, MEDIA AND SPORT (Department for Culture, Media and Sport AND THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND (The National Lottery Community Fund) WE HAVE RECEIVED FUNDING FOR TWO YEARS TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF THE YOUTH IN LINCOLN
🥊 Introducing the "Back on Track - Youths at Risk Project" by Lincoln Kickboxing Academy (LKA) 🥊
🌟 We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering and guiding at-risk young people towards a brighter future. Developed in collaboration with The National Lottery Community Fund, our project is set to transform the lives of 60 young individuals each week, providing a unique blend of physical activity, mentorship, and academic support.
Project Overview:
Spearheaded by experienced kickboxer and qualified coach Shawn Burton, our project aims to engage at-risk youth aged 11-18. Held out of school hours from 4-6:30 pm, sessions include coached kickboxing exercises, dedicated homework support, and socialising in a safe environment.
The goal is to channel participants' energy into positive activities, reducing the likelihood of engaging in anti-social behaviour.
Inclusivity and Community Engagement:
Open to all, irrespective of gender, beliefs, or cultural background, the project fosters positive peer-to-peer connections. Activities are designed to improve emotional well-being, create positive social networks, enhance physical health, instil personal discipline, boost engagement with learning, and foster improved relationships with adults.
Benefits of Participation:
Improving emotional well-being, fostering positive peer relationships, enhancing physical health, and increasing personal discipline are core aims. Free after-school activities guide at-risk youth away from potential mistakes, offering positive outlets for their time. The structured kickboxing exercises and homework support contribute to improved life skills and practical knowledge.
Connecting with the Community:
Established partnerships with local agencies aim to engage the most at-risk youth and provide them with positive alternatives. LKA, walking distance from target estates, makes it accessible to youth interested in kickboxing, including those from deprived backgrounds who can attend free sessions.
Community Involvement and Sustainability:
The project involves the community through a steering group, allowing young people to influence progress. LKA, a trusted community partner, ensures the project remains tailored to evolving needs. Funding from the Million Hours Fund and support from The National Lottery Community Fund pave the way for sustainability and growth.
Supporting and Sustaining Change:
As a Company Limited by Guarantee, LKA has a proven track record of community engagement. With Shawn Burton and an experienced team, we are well-equipped to manage this project effectively. The National Lottery Community Fund's support allows us to gather feedback and explore additional funding avenues.
🔒 Join Us in Unlocking Potential:
Huge thanks goes to the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport and The National Lottery Community Fund for making this groundbreaking project possible. Join LKA in making a difference. Together, we unlock potential.
