The βShadow Ruleβ is an easy tip you can use to stay safe in the sun! β
Look at your shadow. If it's shorter than you, then the sunβs ultraviolet (UV) rays are at their strongest. Too much UV radiation from the sun can damage DNA in your skin cells and cause skin cancer.
In the UK, this is normally between 11am and 3pm and is the time when youβre most likely to get sun damage - so think about taking extra care to protect your skin, especially if you get sunburnt easily.
Follow these three steps to protect your skin and enjoy the sun safely:
π³ Spend time in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm in the UK.
π Cover up with clothes, a wide-brimmed hat and UV-protection sunglasses.
𧴠Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and 4 or 5 stars generously and regularly.
Share this with your loved ones to raise awareness of sun safety this π
