" Coming through with the crispy white wine notes, florals, mandarin and lychee goodness! We currently have this total belter from 17 grams on as our guest espresso and retail feature - we're absolutely delighted with the dial in, it’s tasting fantastic, especially as a flat white and is definitely giving the end of summer light violet-esque florals we all need.

For this Natural processed Colombian, we hugely recommend for brewing as a V60 for a clean bright cup! The florals are highlighted when sipped in a flat white, the fruitier side of things shine in the short black and there’s a super smooth balance of both when enjoyed as an espresso!

Our head chef has lovingly slow cooked this stunning Central American dish in a big green egg and the results are utterly sensational.

Pork Carnitas. Brined Pork Shoulder, smoked on Oak Wood. Braised in Ancho Chilli, Orange and Oregano. Crisped under the grill.

You may have noticed this cheeky addition to our menu. Basically we’ve upgraded our iced drinks pretty dramatically. Having bought a classic Taylor’s soft serve machine earlier this year, we decided the best way to add it to our massive menu was to top our drinks with it in a true American fashion.

Have any iced latte, iced chai, ice chocolate etc as a “float” and enjoy a huge wallop of Jersey cow soft serve on top of your already incredible Hutong beverage.

Available from 8.30am onwards until we sell out.

15 knockout larb scotch eggs are going on the counter both today (Sat) and tomoz (Sunday). Larb is the Thai classic of pork, chillies, fish sauce and way more, and here it's casing a buzzing soft boiled rich yolker from St Ewes. It blew all the staff away during testing (good work, boywonder), and trust us these will last an hour on the counter, so get down NOW, as we've been busy as hell already 🚶🏽‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏼🚶🏼🚶🏽‍♀️

Is there a more legendary bagel at the Hutong than The Salt Beef?

Maybe we should make a reel to show you guys how much work goes into preparing the beef. It's truly a labour of love.

The tldr version is grass fed beef brisket, sauerkraut, dill pickles, Emmenthal cheese and a swirl of mustard mayo. People travel for miles to taste this very special bagel - come and find out why.

Apricot and Green Pistachio Bostocks.

Hand crafted thick tiles of Hutong brioche bathed in homemade apricot jam, which are then lined with frangipane and topped with the summer's sweetest apricots. The bakers then dust generously with ground green pistachios.

This is a worldy and on the counter now at Plymouth's Original Bagel House.

Somewhere in the archives, there is a photo of E&J on Broadway, NYC in 2012. They had spent 10 months in South America travelling, and had scored cheap flights home via New York. First stop was bagels and coffee - the bagels were 2x salmon lox, the coffees were a pair of americanos with milk and loads of sugar (we were young). This was an unforgettable moment on the incredible trip, and hard wired into us a deep love for bagels. It's this moment that shapes so much of the bagel world in which we now dwell.

The salmon we make here features the finest Scottish Monarch, and is packed to the rafters with the schmeared cc, the pips of capers, the fronds of dill, the discs of red onion, and the pucks of tomato, all of which make this a show stopper classic bagel. FTTK, it's gotta be served on an Everything but hey who the hell are we to say? Whichever way you swing, this is an all-timer.

Our canelles lasted 6.7secs on the counter yesterday. None today unfortunately but couldn't let this super photo get lost in the slipstream of internal phone images. What are they? Vanilla and dark rum baked into a fluted mould which should express the softest yielding centre with a smart crunch on the shell. They are divine.

Canelles will be a fixture at weekends from hereon. Pair with a Cortado to show your friends your tastefully restrained elegance, or buy the lot and sit at home in your pants and scoff them all. Both get props from your Hutong amigos 🤝🏽
