Have Your tried Our New Hack Squat machine?

What is the Hack Squat?
The machine hack squat is a classic leg exercise that’s great for targeting several of your large leg muscles, such as your quads, glutes, and adductors.

The hack squat is something of an in-between of the barbell squat and the leg press: the upright body position and the emphasis on your quads mimic that of the squat (or even the front squat), but the stability of the machine is similar to that of the leg press.

The benefits of hack squats are legit.
Though the core and upper body required in standard squats are two of their biggest benefits, hack squats also come with perks related to the more fixed, stable movement involved.

They're great for beginners. Hack squats are great for beginners looking to kickstart building strength. The machine allows very little room for error, so squat newbies can focus on training their legs without worrying about maintaining their core and overall stability.
Hack Squats give you a more-stable movement pattern, which means you can go heavier with the move.
Hack squats are great prep for barbell squats.
You *really* fire up your lower body. Hack squats can help isolate your lower body, allowing you to build strength there faster.
Hack squats can also help you improve your traditional back squat form, while adding weight.

YMCA Bournemouth are supporting the national campaign to provide walking aids for Gaza.
With the humanitarian crisis escalating in Gaza, it is estimated there are over 10,000 people who have had one or both limbs amputated, an estimated half are children; to get people moving again in order to do the simple things in life such as getting to toilets, to food and avoid problems caused by immobility requires crutches, walking sticks and walking aids of all sizes.
The Anglo-Jordanian Society (AJS), a charity based in the UK that promotes friendship and understanding between the UK and Jordan, has launched the “Crutches for Kindness” campaign to motivate the public to check their cupboards for unwanted crutches, walking sticks, or walking aids that the NHS will not take back and help support amputees in Gaza.

We have a SAUNA & STEAM ROOM!!! Free for our members

Here are some Benefits from using a Sauna and Steam room.

1. POST-WORKOUT RELAXATION
Muscles need to be relaxed and stretched after they are exercised in order to promote healthy recovery. When muscles are worked out, their tiny fibres break apart. When the fibres heal, the muscle gains mass and becomes stronger. This process is expedited by muscle relaxation, which occurs in response to a hot environment.

2. RELIEVES JOINT AND MUSCULAR TENSION
The heat from saunas and steam rooms soothes your nerve endings and warms and relaxes your muscles. Very important after sport, especially skiing! They also minimise joint pain as well as arthritis, migraines, and headaches due to the high heat environment.

3. REMOVES TOXINS
Sweating removes toxins from the body. Sitting in a sauna of steam for just 20 minutes can rid the body of an entire day’s sweat and all of the toxins that come with it. Also handy if we over indulge on our holidays!

4. REDUCES STRESS
The heat causes the body to release endorphins that reduce the feeling of stress in the body. After you will feel rejuvenated and content.

5. CLEARS THE SKIN
Steam clears the skin of impurities. It improves circulation in the whole body, which gives you a healthy glow and will make your skin look and feel great.

6. PROMOTES HEALTHY BLOOD FLOW
Capillaries dilate when exposed to the heat of a sauna or steam room, so blood flows freely and easily through the whole body, transporting oxygen everywhere you need it and leaving you feeling refreshed.

7. AIDS WEIGHT LOSS
The heat of steam and saunas get you sweating which can help even shed a few extra pounds of water weight.

8. TREAT CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
When you’re in a sauna, your body reacts to the heat and humidity in a similar way that it reacts to mild exercise. This gets your heart pumping, exercising the muscle without exhausting it, making it stronger without risking injury or disease.

9. OPENS THE SINUSES
Wet heat opens and thins mucous membranes in your body, sinuses, throat and lungs. Loosening mucous can immediately be felt after entering a sauna as your breathing feels clearer. This can be especially beneficial for those who suffer from chronic congestion or sinus infections.

Today is international chest day here are the Top 5 Exercises for Increasing the Chest.

The number of exercises that will work the chest are very long, but only a few will achieve real results. The chest, as stated previously, provides support for many other muscles, and therefore is more responsive to targeted training over the long-term.

Free weights are assumed to be the only tools available in most of the descriptions of these exercises, but there are machines that are designed with some of these exercises in mind. Once you grasp the concept of how the muscles work together, you can alter the workouts to accommodate whatever machines you may desire to use that fit your target workout style.

1. Barbell Bench Press
The undisputed king of chest expansion for hundreds of years, the bench press has been the standard for increasing strength and size in the chest by experts around the globe. It is possible to perform the bench press in a few variations, but for the purposes of this article, we will start by discussing the wide grip, pec pounding bench press.

2. Dumbbell Bench Press
Extremely similar to the first chest exercise, the dumbbell bench press more accurately follows the intended function of the pectoral muscle. Instead of driving the weight straight up, it allows you to bring it in towards the midline of the body. It is also easier to maintain an even level of strength with the dumbbell bench press because the free weights that you are holding aren’t connected in any way.

3. Explosive Push-ups
The standard bench press will only get a person so far when trying to attain more muscle mass in the chest. To supplement normal weightlifting, it is important to incorporate more rapid motions into any chest program. This is difficult to do safely with weights, so smart bodybuilders turn over and put their nose to the floor for some push ups that will create the most powerful resistance through explosive movements.

4. Incline Bench Press
This top chest exercise is extremely similar to the standard bench press listed above in that it works the same primary muscle groups (pectorals, deltoids and triceps.) The incline of the bench press, however, places a great deal more of the workload onto the upper chest.

5. Decline Bench Press
Again, the decline bench press is very similar to the standard bench press. It works the same muscle groups (pectorals, deltoids and triceps). The decline of the bench press however puts a great deal of emphasis on the lower chest muscles.

Try this workout in our free weight section. We have all the relevant equipment to use.
