Director Adam, and daughter Jessie have been volunteering today assisting Poynton Town Council with some much needed footpath repair work on local footpaths. We’ve been managing trees in this area for over a decade, and today was about giving some of our time and machinery back, free of charge to our community. Jessie is also working towards her Duke of Edinburgh Award which requires 15 hours of voluntary work! A rewarding afternoon, still with lots more to do.

Potential scam alert…..

It’s come to our attention that a person or small company are operating in the area claiming to work for Swift Tree Services. The individual has approached a property in Poynton and provided a quote for some work, claiming to be the brother of one of our directors. The man is in an unmarked vehicle and goes by the name of Shaun. He has yet to provide the quote in writing, and became aggressive with the resident when he was challenged.

In order to provide some reassurance, Swift can be contacted on our land line office number, 01625 874279. Only myself or Stephen Warner will come and provide you with a quotation which will be backed up via email. All our vehicles are well branded, so if we don’t turn up looking like Mr Swift, it isn’t Mr Swift!

Please spread the word. This isn’t an advertising post, it’s purely for awareness to avoid it happening again. Thanks.

As a “Vice President” [a Member] and / or a “Committee Member” you are cordially invited to attend the short [official] Annual General Meeting which is quickly followed by a General Meeting, starting off the preparations for the 2024 Show.

Can you help us?
We are all [unpaid] volunteer staff, right across the organisation and I’m now seeking your help, either throughout the year [planning] and / or at showtime itself, staging the show. Whether you think you can help with this long-standing community event, sparing several hours a month and / or prefer to help us in August.

Initially, we have an urgent requirement for two key positions [vacated after many years’ service] that we need help with - “Show Secretary” and “Show Treasurer”. We are also looking for someone to take on a “Marketing” role, too.

Two large and declining roadside trees safely dismantled yesterday for our client TC Tree & Site Services. Grateful as always for the assistance of Sutton’s Crane Hire and Amberon Traffic Management. Meanwhile our teams were continuing to produce more excellent regular domestic maintenance work.

An exciting opportunity to join our busy and expanding family engineering business, based in Brownlow, Congleton.
This role would be both mobile and workshop based. Focusing on the repair, servicing and maintenance of agricultural, plant, municipal and occasionally domestic garden machinery. Experience in agricultural and plant machinery is essential, with a basic understanding of hydraulics.

Required:
· Self-motivated, positive and willing attitude towards work
· Great communication skills, time keeping and reliability
· Experience with the operation and repair of agricultural and plant machinery
· Ability to work alone
· Tidy work place mentality
· Full driving licence


Role to include:
· On-site and in-house repair work
· Completion of job cards & time sheets
· Ensuring van stocked & re-ordering parts
· Flexibility of hours may be needed at peak business times


Remuneration dependant on experience, opportunity of paid overtime, and company pension in a friendly working environment. Company van provided.

Well, what a day!
We had all the weathers in one day - we've had great weather for the last few years, so it was bound to come!

Thanks to all our visitors who still came in their thousands despite the weather.

Thanks to all our traders, entertainers, crafters, bakers, farmers, drivers and trades people who make the day amazing.

Thanks to our sections whose volunteers keep the show diverse and interesting. They work really hard all year.

Special thanks to the ground committee, who are all volunteers, and put a show up in a week - they don't have to do it and do it for the benefit of the community and the crucial small traders, plus promoting a bit of English rural life to a growing town.

Thanks also to the small team of 7 management committee volunteers who work throughout the year, sometimes many hours a week, to plan and ensure everything is in place.

We're going to need your help for next year - we're very low on numbers, so watch this space.
