WBVH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This years AGM will be held in the village hall on Monday 21 November at 7.30pm. All members of the public are welcome to attend. A number of committee members have indicated they will not be seeking re-election at the meeting so several senior posts are likely to need filling. If we cannot vote in enough committee members to form an effective quorum the the bottom line is that the hall could be forced to close its doors, so if you want to be sure that your local village hall can continue to operate, we would kindly ask for volunteers, not just people who can do the big things like chairman or secretary, but we need young and fit people - muscle - people who can attend fete days and help put up gazebos and generally do the donkey-work that the rest of us cannot. Without the help, we cannot continue to function. Please take a moment to think about what you could do to help, and then bring your ideas along to the AGM in November. We'd love to hear from you.
After a two year hiatus, the annual village fete is back for 2022 on Bank Holiday Monday, the 29th August - next week, just seven days to go!! :-)
Can anyone who won a trophy back in 2019 please return it to the hall in time for Monday so it can be presented to the 2022 winner. You do unfortunately only get to keep your trophy for a year - we are after all, a charity, it is only due to COVID and the postponement of the fete in 2020-21 that people were allowed to keep their winner's trophy for longer than they should have. If you can help tracing any of the missing trophies, please get in touch.
The hall's phone number is 07395 993872 or you can email [email protected]
For those who are after a child-friendly cheap night out, "Elvis" (professional impersonator Adam Carter) will be performing at the Village Hall tonight, with line-dance music from DJ Alan "Ghost Rider". There is a bar available, plus many prizes to be won in Bab's grand raffle. I've had to up the ticket allocation on Skiddle to prevent them selling out, at one point there was only one ticket left, and they will remain on-sale at £5 each (plus fees) until about an hour before doors open tonight at 6pm, when tickets will be on-sale at the door for £6 each. Children are £1 (a child being defined as school-age between 5-16) while toddlers and babies go free. There is no food available, so please feel free to bring your own snacks and nibbles. We will only be putting out enough chairs and tables for those who have bought tickets. Anyone who arrives without a ticket may have to wait until we can pull extra tables and seats out of the store room.

Tickets are still available for Elvis Night at the village hall this Friday evening, 19th August, doors open at 6pm. Adam Carter is rated as one of the best Elvis impersonators in the country. During the interval country DJ Alan 'Ghost Rider' will be playing music to line-dance to. The star prize in Bab's giant raffle is a hamper of groceries that should keep most people fed for a few days and well worth winning. Buy with your credit/debit card online from the link below.

Here is a copy of the leaflet for this years village gala on Bank Holiday Monday with a list of all the categories in the flower and vegetable and other handicraft competitions with the times and dates they need to be brought to the hall for registering. It goes without saying that all entries must be made or produced by your own hand - you cannot cheat and go to Spar to buy a Mr Kipling cake and enter it as your own creation.

We do have more seats this time around, but sales are likely to be brisk - do not assume you will be able to buy one on the night, we could easily have sold out by then.

Ricky Stephenson will be bringing his "Longton Rockfest" to Walmer Bridge Village Hall for the first time on Saturday 23rd July 2022, very graciously donating the proceeds to the hall to help with the ever-increasing costs of upkeep and repairs, so if you can attend , please do, as this event could be the difference between the hall ending the year with our finances showing a plus or a minus figure. Outdoor Concert 2022: 'Robbie' (Mike Andrew) + 'Total Affect' at Walmer Bridge Village Hall Annual summer concert as postponed from 2021 with Robbie Williams tribute artist 'Mike Andrew' and 70'/80's cover band 'Total Affect'.
Final reminder for our annual 'Picnic in the Park' music concert, cancelled last year due to coronavirus. It will be taking place this SATURDAY, the 28th May 2002 on the field behind the village hall. Gates open at 6pm. It is that time when the weather forecast for the weekend becomes reliable and people make a decision on whether to attend or not. So far at least, the signs for good weather are good, and if previous years are anything to go by, most movement on ticket sales will happen in the final days. Some outlets ran out of their allocation last time and we were unable to replenish their stock, so don't leave things too late - though you'll still be able to buy on the gate on the day for £20, an increase on the advance price of £15.
For those who think that £15 is a lot of money, I'd like to point out that the village hall is a registered charity and any profits that are made are ploughed back into the hall to fund its upkeep and repair, making sure that it is available for the local community for years to come.
Our headline act is Mike Andrew, a renowned Robbie Williams tribute artist and talented singer in his own right who has actually performed on stage with Robbie Williams. He even played at Robbie's dad's birthday party. There are a lot of Robbie tribute acts out there, but not many who come with a personal recommendation from the artist they are imitating, and Robbie is on record at stating "It's hard to tell where he (Mike) ends and I begin."
Joining us for a second time after supporting "Magic Queen" a few years ago, we are also welcoming the rock cover band "Total Affect" back to our venue.
The mobile artisan food company "Vintage Bubbles" will be attending the concert and will be selling crepes and waffles with a range of fruit and chocolate toppings. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100027526313032
Guests are invited to bring their own gazebos and chairs with picnics and alcohol, though there will be a limited bar service on the field with cans of beer and lager or prosecco available for sale. Please can guests ensure they take all their rubbish away with them.
