August is National Immunisation Month, a time to raise awareness of the importance of vaccinating people of all ages against a number of serious and sometimes deadly diseases. The Mouth Cancer Foundation would advocate for teenagers being administered the Human Papilloma Virus, (HPV) vaccine. Cancer caused by HPV tends to be found at the back of the mouth, at the base of the tongue and around the tonsil area. It is very treatable if caught early. All children in the UK are offered the HPV vaccine in year 8. Full details can be found on the NHS Website.

Woody Team training in London last week 🎉

The Woody team has enjoyed more team building and training! Sharing our expertise is fundamental to maintaining our knowledge and high standards across all members of staff.

This time the session kicked off with a game of 'crossing the galaxy'. Working together to prevent losing your stepping stones to the cosmos. Followed by an in-house sedation protocol refresher lead by Dental Therapist, Sofia Leach, where the team refreshed their knowledge of the legal and practical aspects of oral sedation.

This patient came to us because he had multiple teeth missing due a condition where someone is congenitally born with missing teeth (the patient had baby teeth but was also missing several adult teeth). We started with orthodontics to move his teeth into an ideal position for Nick to then place implant crowns to perfect his smile. All finished off with teeth whitening treatment. 😁

Thank you to Sally B for leading such a fantastic training session for our wonderful nurses last Friday! 👏👏👏

It started with a team communication challenge to get everyone warmed up and in the zone - making shapes with rope and our eyes closed.

Sally, our decontamination technician, then took the nurses through a decon room refresher session which included a mixture of practical challenges and a team quiz with buzzers!

Our hard working nurses won face masks as prizes. 😍
