It’s World Book Day on Thursday so our theme of the week is Read Your Way. Mr BW, our Reading Champion, will be leading assemblies all week and Mrs B, our Librarian, has loads of activities planned which includes a author visiting on Wednesday

ZooLab visited on Tuesday with a selection of weird and wonderful animals of the tropical rainforest. This was a great opportunity for Year 8 to apply their knowledge of adaptations from their classroom learning to the real thing!

Punctuality to school is an important factor to attendance and gets students into good habits. Please ensure you leave in plenty of time to get to school so you can start the day off right!

Exploring science by practical lessons is a great way to put the theory into practice. Some recent experiments include GCSE photosynthesis, making salt crystals and displacement reactions.

NCS came in on Monday to present to our Year 11’s! NCS is an opportunity that helps 15–17-year-olds (Year 11 and 12) to build skills for work and life, take on new challenges, meet new people and make a difference in their local community

The attendance battle is on! Year 8 reclaimed the most improved with Year 7 taking back the top spot from Year 11! Please ensure you leave in plenty of time to defrost cars in the mornings! ❄️

It's been busy in the Library this week. Book club have been reviewing science books for The Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize and today, a smaller panel will finish collating the results and choose our winner to send off to them.
Wednesdays are not just Whispering Wednesdays at lunchtime but are also silent reading time. No computers, no homework, just silently reading your book and it was our busiest lunchtime yet in the year - a tranquil, calm midweek space in a busy week at school.

The return to school means the return of attendance updates! Well done year 11 who smashed the new term by producing a clean sweep for the first two days back!

Happy New Year!! This week we resume our house assemblies with a focus on Keller – our theme for the week is Change. Alongside the assembly led by Miss R and student leader for Keller, students will also be gaining a better understanding of braille in their PD session at the end of the week

Year 7 and 11 were victorious in the Term 2 review of attendance and punctuality! Mandela feature heavily in the tutor group shoutouts too. We wish you all a restful Christmas break and look forward to seeing you, on time, on 4th January! 🎄🎅🏻⭐️

We dressed our Christmas tree (kindly donated by Henry Street Garden Centre) for the Christmas Tree Festival at Shinfield St Mary’s Loddon Reach Benefice today. You can see it and the other fabulous trees all next week on display in the church!

Year 9 were victorious in having the highest attendance last week! Year 11 had the most improved punctuality. Attendance and punctuality took an overall dip last week. It is so important to be in school every day on time!

It’s a busy week this week for our theme ‘Faith at Christmas’! Shinfield Community Church will be in to deliver a Christmas message and then students will explore other faith celebrations in their PD session! Don’t forget the Christmas Showcase and Market on Thursday!
