Conifers are often underrated but here is why we LOVE them:

🌿They are evergreen & are the perfect plants for year round structure.
🌿They aren’t just green! You can find a range of conifers in different colours from blue, silver, and gold.
🌿There is a different size conifer for every garden from dwarf to large specimen varieties.
🌿They can have different functions in your garden from hedges to focal points as topiary.

September kicks off the start of Autumn and there is so much to get out and do in your garden this month! 🤩
So here are three gardening jobs you can do now:

🌷Plant Spring flowering bulbs! Fill your pots and borders with bulbs like daffodils, hyacinths & crocus to ensure a colourful display next Spring.
🥔 Lift maincrop potatoes, dry them, and store them in a cool, dark, ventilated place.
🌿Lift, divide, and replant clumps of perennials.

Last week we had the honour of meeting Kim Leadbeater, who is the local MP for Spen Valley. She joined us at Mirfield Garden Centre.

We loved having her join us to see the centre and learn more about all the work we do at British Garden Centres.

White & Purple border planting list! ⚪️💜

This year we transformed a new build garden and created a gorgeous border filled with stunning white & purple flowering plants. Here’s what we used:

A garden is never finished so over the next year more plants will be added to this depending on what is in stock in our British Garden Centres. This will include planting Spring Flowering Bulbs in the Autumn and plants with Autumn/Winter interest 🤩

There's nothing better than a delicious coffee ☕️. All our coffee comes from Stokes in Lincolnshire, who roast the coffee beans on-site before sending them out to our garden centre.

Yesterday we volunteered our time to support St. Andrew's Hospice Grimsby to lend a green-fingered hand to help revitalise the hospice’s grounds and Greenfingers’ pirate-themed garden ☀️

Our team weeded, pruned, chopped and tidied to help to maintain the magical garden that offers a safe & therapeutic escape for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

A huge thank you to the team at St Andrew’s Hospice & Greenfingers for welcoming us and we hope we were able to make a difference in such a cherished space 🌱
