Thames Traditional Boat Society – Boating and BBQ at Port Fonty on Sunday 4 August

Everyone is welcome. It is a great opportunity to meet up with friends and meet new members. It is a good chance to see what we do if you are new to the Society.

Come along to Port Fonty from about 10.30am and have an outing in a boat or canoe. It is helpful to have some idea of numbers to plan crews and food.

BBQ will be served about lunchtime

TTBS Summer BBQ at Port Fonty
on 4 August
Our next event which is a Port Fonty Day with boating in the morning for those who want to and a lunchtime BBQ.

Everyone is welcome. It is a great opportunity to meet friends and catch up with others. Also an opportunity to introduce new people to what we do.

Let us know numbers who are wishing to go out on the water to organise crews, and the number for the BBQ.

Food is provided at a small cost - please bring some cash with you!

Thames Traditional Boat Festival is in full swing.

This weekend the Thames Traditional Boat Festival is taking place on Fawley Meadow in Henley on Thames.

The Society have a presence there and it would be great to see you at the festival. Two of the Society boats are entered so there is a chance to take part in one of the unpowered parades and meet other members.

Wargrave boating club invites you to a summer’s evening on the river with drinks and nibbles, quick wit and repartee.

All kayakers, Canadian canoeists, rowers, punters and skiffers are welcome.

The plan is to meet at WBC at 6:15pm on Friday 26th July to be ready to depart downstream at 6:30pm along the beautiful River Thames, moor and raft up at the bottom of the Hennerton Backwater for some refreshments, followed by a gentle paddle/punt/row/scull back upstream either via the Hennerton Backwater or the River Thames.

The journey downstream should take between 20 and 30 minutes and upstream perhaps 25-30 minutes. Since we do not have lights on our craft, we need to return safely in daylight.

Normal WBC rules apply.

If you would like to join us, please list your desired craft and all names in your party.

Don’t forget to bring your refreshments, nibbles and buoyancy aids if required.

Please note that this is a family friendly event, children are very welcome.

Our next Port Fonty Boating Day is next Sunday 14th July.

We have decided to explore the River Kennet. Bring your own picnic.

We will aim to leave PF at 11:00hrs heading over the Thames and on to the Kennet, heading upstream through Blake's, County, Fobney and Southcot Locks. We will aim to picnic just upstream of Southcot Lock, a distance of about 5 miles from PF.

All are welcome of course but please let me know if you are coming so that we can ready Society boats and spare seats in attending members' boats.

As ever, this will be dependent on river conditions next Sunday.

Just a reminder of the
Port Fonty Day that is taking place this Sunday 16th June.

Both Society and members boats will be taking to the water so why not come along and join in with the fun and frivolities. After the boats come back we will be having a picnic on the lawn by the pontoon so bring yours along to join in.

• 1: wherries met zeil tot 10 m2

• Bij minder dan 10 inschrijvingen worden de wedstrijden afgelast.
