Moston Brook 2-3 Firgrovia

After last week’s game being abandoned mid way through due to the weather, the lads were back away to Moston Brook. Last year’s fixture away at Moston Brook was controversial and we were looking to seek a win.

The game was hotly contested, with it being 2-2 at half time but Firgrovia managed to get the vital goal in the second half to come away with all 3 points!

FIRGROVIA 1-4 AFC Oldham

Unfortunate for the lads today as we were beaten at home to top of the league AFC Oldham by 4 goals to 1.

All the action was in the first half, Oldham went 2-0 up then Firgrovia got one back with a free kick put in by Jamie Chadwick and headed in by Nathan Charlton. Oldham then got another 2 before the half hour mark and made it 4-1. Firgrovia also had a penalty and unfortunately didn't find the target.

The lads gave it their all and put up a good fight against the best team in the league, best of luck to AFC Oldham for the rest of the season. Now we move on to next week's game now away to Barrhill!

We got another win today to make it 3 wins in a row!! Lads played really well and showed we wanted it more in a evenly contested game.

This week was the reverse fixture of last week's game against Oldham Saints and the boys ran out winners again with the same scoreline of 7-2!!

Firgrovia were dominant from start to finish and played really well despite the torrential rain and got the important 3 points!

FIRGROVIA 3-5 BROADHEATH CENTRAL

Today marked the start of our league campaign at home to Broadheath Central where we was looking to get the league started the same as last season with a win at home.

First Half got off to a bad start from Firgrovia, a set piece converted after 5 minutes saw the opponents go ahead but not for long as Nathan Charlton got us level on the 11th minute with a nice worked goal from team. Again, Firgrovia fell behind but we kept coming back! A great ball across the box from Nathan to set up Jamie Chadwick to grab another equaliser and after 22 minutes it was 2-2.

With 5 minutes before half time, Broadheath managed to take the lead again but with the fighting spirit we always show, Firgrovia got another equaliser from a lovely free kick from Nathan Charlton! We went into the break 3-3 in a game which was goals galore.

Second Half got underway and a very poor decision from the referee to allow a goal to stand despite the opposition player being offside by a long stretch, Firgrovia fell behind again and we fought on to try get back into the game. Broadheath got another and a few Firgrovia chances that on another day would of been goals, it was just one of them games and we start the season off with defeat.

The lads fought till the very last kick of the ball today and they all should be happy with the effort they all put in! A shoutout to Jason Winterburn, played an sublime ball to Nathan for his first goal, got injured, came back on and was still a rock at the back despite being injured!

Today's Man of the Match goes to the bagsman, Nathan Charlton! Took the first goal really well and composed and his second, a lovely free kick no keeper stops. Well done Nathan!

FIRGROVIA 6-4 Saddleworth 3Ds Res

Final pre season game before season kicks off next week saw a great win over Saddleworth 3Ds Reserves! Goals coming from Ryan Hansen, Bailey McNaughton, Lewis Connellan, 2 from Nathan Charlton and a big shoutout to Falak Ahmed who got his 1st goal for the club! We are all absoulutely buzzing for him, can't wait to see him bag a few more over the upcoming season.

MOTM was given to the bagsman himself, Nathan Charlton! 2 class goals from him and we will be plenty more of the same this season, well done Nathan!
