Hi everyone.
Lately I have seen quite a few people who have had there ears damaged by previous wax removal, or they have not had a serious auricular condition recognised which if left untreated could have caused irreversible hearing loss by somebody who is not trained properly to recognise abnormalities within the ear.

The wax removal industry isn’t regulated so anybody (people with no medical knowledge or background) can do a day course in wax removal and carry out this treatment, but I would strongly advise you to check the credentials of somebody who you are trusting with your ears. The ear drum is only 0.1mm thick so there is a lot of scope for things to to wrong. Personally I would only trust a registered nurse or an audiologist with something as delicate as my hearing. I am a nurse and we are trained in otoscopy and if I find any abnormality I will write a letter to your gp to treat or to refer you on the relevant department using my knowledge and experience. I have developed a trusting relationship with many gp surgeries so they will usually act swiftly on the referral when received from myself or other established nurses/audiologists who carry out this procedure in the local area.

This isn’t an advertisement to come and book with me but is just a warning to please check the credentials of people you are trusting with something as important as your hearing 🙂

Happy to announce we had baby Harry on the 18th February weighing a tiny 4 lb 11. Will be back in clinic in around 4 weeks or so, not sure when I will be doing home visits again - recovery depending 🙂 xx

Good morning! Just to let you know until I go on maternity leave throughout March I will be at the Rainham clinic every Tuesday and Wednesday as opposed to just Tuesdays. I will only be doing home visits on Mondays as it’s hard to lug the equipment around at 31 weeks pregnant! I am going to carry on working for as long as possible. I will be off for around 4 weeks after the baby is born and then will be going back to clinic one day a week to start off with and I will see how I feel physically as to when I start the home visits again. So if you’ve been thinking about having your ears done I would advise to book asap 🙂

Apologies to everyone who’s had to be rescheduled today for home visits but it’s just too dangerous for me to be driving round ungritted residential streets all day especially with the baby on board! What a terrible day today, broke down on my way home from Dorset with a 1 year old in the back, waited 4 hours for recovery. Sorry to anyone who’s appointment was late today when I finally arrived in the clinic! It’s been a very stressful day.
All my home visits will still be going ahead as my lovely sister and mum allowing me the use of their cars until mine is fixed 🙂

Removed these massive plugs of wax today using microsuction from somebodies ear! He couldn’t believe how much was in there! Even I was shocked at the size as these are some of the biggest plugs of wax I have seen! 🙂

Earwax is not actually wax
It gets its name from its waxy, sticky texture - but earwax is not a wax. The exact recipe for earwax requires a good dose of sebum (a body secretion made up mostly of fat), skin cells, sweat and dirt.

Please be mindful that when you don’t show up for an appointment or you cancel at the last minute that that is time I have set aside for you that I can’t fill at such short notice. I don’t want to have to start taking deposits as this isn’t usually a problem but in the last week it has been. My business is just me and nobody else and is my sole job, so when people don’t show up or cancel an hour before it effects me and I have a family to support.
I understand emergencies happen and this doesn’t apply to emergencies.
If this continues I may have to start taking deposits for every booking which I don’t want to do.
Please give me 24 hours notice if possible if you would like to cancel or reschedule
