Making the most of the lighter evenings with outdoor laser quest makes for a great parade night activity! 🔫

A monthly sports night is always on the programme at Isle of Wight Air Cadets!

A mix of circuit training, team games and dodge ball are regularly on offer to help develop the fitness and team skills of our cadets! 🏀🏃‍♀️💪

We are well into The Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition season now and we've been making use of our stunning scenery. ⛺🥾🌲

Even managed our own fly past too! 🛩

Out on parade for the third time in June!

We joined with other Isle of Wight units, including 165 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC, Cowes Sea Cadets & Ryde Sea Cadets at Isle of Wight Armed Forces Day.

A particular favourite was the magnificent display by the RAF Red Arrows!

Out on parade for a variety of events this week at both Culver Down and Newport. 💂‍♂️

We paraded with a number of local organisations, including cadets and staff from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force, Ryde Sea Cadets & Cowes Sea Cadets.

All in memory of the momentous events of June 1944.

Going old school and dusting off the '12x12'! ⛺

In HM Armed Forces, the 12ft × 12ft tent is a very well known bit of kit. Robust and heavy, they make a great shelter at our community events but also a fantastic team building activity too.

Far too much fun had at the Waendal Walk this weekend! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🥾

An annual walking event held in Wellingborough saw our cadets walk over 32 miles over two days alongside 1000s of other participants from across the globe. 🌎

Not just about walking but also camping, a foray into a supermarket (a humorous feat with a group of cadets), fraternisation with the locals of 378 Mannock Sqn ATC, Wellingborough & Rushden Sea Cadets too.

Time to rest those feet! 👣

Lots of walking this weekend!

Alongside over 9,500 other walkers, cadets, staff and their families supported Mountbatten Isle of Wight walking up to 26.5 miles across the island. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🐕

is an annual fixture in the calendar for many islanders and is an opportunity to support a great cause.

Now time to soothe those sore feet. 👣🐾

Last weekend saw our musically inclined cadets cross the Solent to support the first band practice of the year for Hants & IOW Wing ATC, RAF Air Cadets Music Services!

Getting in tune with more than 20 other cadets from across Hampshire and IOW Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Having our own rifle range has some great advantages! 🎯🔫

We are able to practise our marksmanship skills on parade nights and at weekends, making sure that our cadets have the most opportunities possible, including our latest recruits.

Over the last month recruits from our January 2024 intake have been getting to grips with weapon training, learning new skills, growing in confidence and exercising personal discipline to get in some cracking scores!

Another engineering challenge with spaghetti and other assorted items, this time to build the tallest tower. 🛠🗼

The wining team smashed the previous record by nearly 30cm with a construction towering in at 214cm!

Making the most of the Easter holidays with another underground adventure with a very damp exploration of Swildon's Hole in the Mendips.

Lots of ladders and underground waterfalls made for some very sleepy cadets on the way home! 🧗‍♀️➰🌊

School holidays = cadet activities❗

Another great weekend at South East RFCA Jersey Camp, teaming up with 1216 Eastleigh Squadron Air Training Corps to deliver Road marching and a St John Ambulance Youth First Aid course.

Road marching cadets walked up to 60km over the weekend whilst cadets completing first aid learned more advanced skills like how to use an automated external defibrillator and to treat anaphylaxis. 🥾⛑🚶‍♀️

Our Easter holiday activities have continued with a visit to Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton to learn about the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy! 🚁⚓

We saw lots of historic aircraft at Navy Wings and the impressive at 815 Naval Air Squadron.

We crossed the Solent this week for a trip to Goatchurch Cavern in the Mendips Hills, descending, twisting and turning over 50m deep to the the dreaded 'drainpipe'. 🙃

Just call us the amphibious and subterranean specialists of Hampshire and IOW Royal Air Force Air Cadets!

And like all good cadet activities it ended with cadets asleep on the bus home. 🚌

An exceptionally busy half term with 9 cadets and 2 staff on camp in 2 different countries! 🇦🇹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Hiking, mountain biking, climbing, caving, paddlesports, high ropes and skiing have all been on the agenda in an action packed week in either the Lake District or on the Austrian ski slopes! 🥾🧗‍♂️🛶🚵‍♂️⛷

Like all good camps, it ends with cadets asleep on the bus home. 😴
