Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall
Welcome to Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall's page! Please get in touch for info on upcoming events or to book the hall for any occasion.
The weather is improving, planning is well underway for our 3rd fantastic Burniston Rocks.
Raising funds for the village hall facilities for everyone.
The weather has delayed the laying of the new tarmac to the tennis courts and MUGA and probably won't be completed now until after the festival.
All our fundraising continues as new lining to the courts and a new rebound fence to the MUGA are the next step.
A huge thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors and those who have made generous donations to this fund.
Now lets have fun at this years festival - www.ticketsource.co.uk/bcvillagehall
Extraordinary Meeting of Burniston Parish Council. Monday 29th July at 8pm at Burniston and Cloughton Village Hall.
On Thursday 18th July 2024, Burniston Parish Council held its July Ordinary Council Meeting. The meeting was extremely well attended by both residents of Burniston Parish and people who live nearby.
The main issue raised in the public forum was a request, that had been received by the Planning Department of North Yorkshire Council, for an Environmental Impact Assessment screening opinion in relation to a proposed temporary planning permission, for the construction and operation of a drilling rig for the exploration of subsurface hydrocarbons, testing well and retention of the equipment on land east of The Mill Yard, Burniston Mill, Coastal Road, Burniston, Scarborough YO13 ODB.
Owing to the timing of the publication of the request and the date of The Burniston Parish Council July, meeting this item could not be published on the July agenda therefore the Chairman of Burniston Parish Council, Richard Parsons, has called an Extraordinary Meeting to discuss and respond to the request for a screening opinion.
The meeting will be held as above, in the main hall at Burniston and Cloughton Village Hall and is open to the public to attend.
In line with the requirements for our Council meetings, the agenda will be published in advance.
Within the agenda there will be a public forum where the attending Councillors will listen to the views of the members of the public who attend. Following this the Councillors will discuss and decide upon the content of the response that will be submitted to North Yorkshire Council to meet their response time of the 2nd August 2024.
We look forward to people attending and listening to all views.
The full line up for the Food Theatre at Scarborough Seafest is now confirmed! 😄

Thank you to Irton Garden Centre for your sponsorship and support for this event.
They're Up! Wow......
Please explain to the kids that they mustn't try to access the courts yet. We need to lay the new tarmac, and the concrete supporting the goals will need to dry out.
Thank you

We thought it was time to give you an update on Active Burniston & Cloughton Tennis Courts and MUGA project.
Fundraising continues and we have many people to thank who are working hard to reach our target.
Red Lion Race Night and Raffles £300 to the ABC and £300 to youth club
Table Top Sales £500 to ABC
Raffle £38 to ABC
Musicals and Abba £995 to ABC
A grant from Sport England of £10,000 which has funded the combined goal and basketball posts.
A grant of £9500 from Burniston parish council is helping to fund the tarmac.
Thank you to the brilliant village hall volunteers - you all know who you are! 👏
We have some fantastic events this year which are becoming annual events, we hope you will continue to support them. Local fun and activities for local people.
June 23rd Cloughton Open Gardens - sponsored by Irton Garden Centre
August 3rd Burniston Rocks Music Festival - more on sponsors to follow
October 12th Burniston Rocks kids Talent Show - sponsored by Beckview Studios
Next steps with the courts:
June 19th and 20th the combined goal and basketball posts will be installed by a specialist installer.
Date to be confirmed but we have the funds to enable insert of tennis post sockets to the MUGA and lay the new tarmac. Weedkiller has been applied and seems to be effective but we may need to redo before the tarmac is laid. A decision will be made shortly. All down to the rain!
It is important that once the goals are in that no-one tries to play sport on the base course. The wearing course of tarmac has been removed and it will damage the base course increasing the cost to repair.
We are continuing to raise funds for relining (£4k) and a rebound fence around the MUGA (£12.5k)
We think it is important to reiterate that this facility will be for everyone to use. There will be pay to play and free sessions. All income will be used for ongoing maintenance.
Should there be someone out there who would like to work with us to coach, build teams adults/children, basketball, football, tennis, netball or generally just help please contact us on 01723 643003 or [email protected].
We are looking forward to inviting everyone back to Burniston Rocks...the muscians are ready.....The Yorkshire Men are ready and there will be lots of food great food too.
