About SUKT - Sheffield University Kyu-grade Tournament (SUKT) 29/10/2024

Entry numbers are building nicely for our annual kyu grade competition.

Running for over a decade, last year it was full and we had to turn people away.

Don't leave it out so late to enter you miss out, already at over 30% capacity despite being a month away. Many events wouldn't have seen any entries this far out so we may well be heading for another full event!

- novice to yellow
- orange to blue
- brown (point scoring)

Normal Judo training this evening will be replaced with our AGM (18:00 - View room 5 in the SU), and by singing practice (Yo! Karaoke - 20:00 - Bar One).

Can all committee nominees attend the AGM please. If you are interested in being on the AGM but have not applied, there may still be an opportunity to get on the committee. If you are interested in learning how the club did this year overall, please attend also.

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good week so far and are excited for the AGM this Thursday. The following links will take you to the voting forms for next year's committee, these will be open until the AGM itself, so be sure to vote!

At the AGM we will look back at the year before looking forward to the next, you will get to meet the candidates and ask any questions you have before voting forms close. After the first round of voting via the forms a second round will take place during the AGM. In this round, candidates who did not apply, or were unsuccessful in the first round will be able to stand for remaining roles.

If you have applied for any position, be sure to let me know and attend the AGM. I know of a candidate who applied, but whose application did not reach me. In addition to being able to confirm your interest in the role, attending the AGM will allow you to answer any questions people have and have a good time with everyone!

Best wishes and see you Thursday!

We are back! Post-Easter Training information is below:

Tuesdays - open to all! - back on tonight! On every week until the last session before summer break 4th June

Thursdays - 25th April & 9th May ONLY

Extended Committee Candidate Registration Form 2024 21/03/2024

AGM approaching!

Hope you're all doing well and are excited for the Easter holidays! We on committee are so happy with how this year's gone so far, with a massively successful SUKT and USIST, and lots of new faces in the club and new belts being earned.

The application forms for the Annual General Meeting have been released, and are attached here so you can put your name down to be on next year's committee.

Being on committee is a really exciting and useful experience - you get more of a say in how the club runs, and get an understanding of what it's like to be involved in committee decision making - it's great for developing your skills in this area (and looks great on a CV)

Joining the committee is the best thing you can do to support our judo club, and maintain the great atmosphere we've got into the next year.

The deadline for applications is April 8th, 16:00, the last Monday of the Easter holiday, after which we will hold the AGM (we are provisionally thinking it will be in the first week back, between April 15-19), so be sure to apply quickly in case it slips your mind during the break!

The application form below is for the standard sport club executive committee roles, as well as the new role of Competition officer - a role created to allow greater focus throughout the year on competition organisation.

And below here is the application form for the extended committee roles, which include:
Publicity officer - who will run our social media

social secretary - who will plan and run our socials

women's officer - who will make sure the club is a safe and welcoming place for women

USIST officer - who in addition to the competition sec will focus specifically on preparation for USIST

Vice Captain - Bit more relaxed! A backup in case the captain can't exercise their authority.
