This is the Serreta, another "tool" being used to train and ride horses, typically in Spanish Countries...I included two horrible pictures randomly from the web in the first comments about its use, for whoever may want to see them and this time I truly cannot find the right words to comment this...If that's something considered acceptable to use on a horse...well, I really don't know what to say š
A drastically sad story with an amazingly happy ending.
Meet Pompey - the first of our 'Dover 26' foals! š“š
Pompey, named after the British port of Portsmouth, was born to his Mum Daisy late last week. Daisy arrived in our care, along with 25 other horses (4 of which were also pregnant like Daisy), after an overloaded transporter was intercepted at Dover port. The transporter was believed to be illegally smuggling the horses out of Britain for a slaughterhouse in Europe.
Both Mum and foal are doing well, but we need your help to care for many more horses like Daisy and Pompey. Each foal costs us Ā£5,000 a year to care for. Will you consider making a vital donation today? You can donate via the link here š https://bit.ly/4aGWKSk
Continuing to spread the word about the work being done by animal charities in Ukraine - 'Tails From The Borders' was screened at Southend College yesterday. Here is a link to an interview I did with their marketing department. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8VWh2Xe8kE
If a Haggis was a Horse!
And clearly itās not but fun messing about. Happy Burns Night 2024
Horses feel our thoughts. With hands as light as a dandelion seed we can direct our minds energy from our free necks and poised backs through our seat and hands to the horses mind, soul and spirit carrying us both through an ever expanding potential space. Itās called lightness and it takes practice as we live in habits of thinking and moving that make our muscles dense and the flow of pure potential thought gets restricted. Each directed thought is life in motion, lengthening our muscles and allowing the horse to lengthen and lighten too, seeding the energy available to usā¦

I reposting this film which features Emma Leckie from 'Live, Love, Be' as she explains the practice of Equine Learning so eloquently. I created this film just before I qualified as an Equine Learning Practitioner, a good few years ago. I was so impressed by her professionalism and mesmerised by her beautiful herd. I am proud to call her a member of my herd!

This horse and his owner taught me a lot. I am very grateful they supported me when I needed it.
Methods of human communication - 70% is body language, only 20% is the tone of voice and just 10% is words. For horses the ability to communicate quickly and silently is vital. This is why horses are experts at reading energy given off by another horse or another person and why they are also excellent aids for Equine Learning # .
Horses view the world very differently from us and are just one of the many reasons why I love working and spending time with them. This clever computer simulation demonstrates how their vision differs from ours. Olga Platonova Emma Leckie Jane McGuirk Natasha Bee Gloria Jones Dawn Mander Giselle Lockett

Equine Facilitated Learning
About Contented People and EFL
ā
'Contented Peopleā - owned by Alex Gulland, offers individuals the opportunity to experience the power of Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL).
EFL is the concept that people's lives can be positively influenced and changed by spending quality time with horses.
Horses are excellent teachers in our journey to discover and understand ourselves. This is because they are herd animals, social by nature, and therefore have a heightened awareness of the rest of their herd members - which includes us!
The connection between horses and humans is the āmagicā of EFL and can be explained in neuro-scientific terms by the fact that there is remarkable similarity between the limbic (emotional) brain of horses and that of humans.
They can therefore serve as both as our mirrors and our teachers in terms of emotional intelligence, congruence and relationships.
All individuals who participate are guided by Alex Gulland, who successfully completed her EFL training with the LEAP Organisation.
LEAP is an organisational member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adheres to the BACP Code of Ethics.
The LEAP Model is an integrative approach to EFL. It combines both reflective and active elements to provide clients with an holistic and therapeutic learning experience.
Alex Gulland - is a qualified LEAP Practitioner and also trained in Natural Horsemanship. She carefully structures interactive exercises that use a combination of this Natural Horsemanship and the horseās own subtle system of communication to assist individuals.
