The roast box is open, come and say hi!

A lot of you have seen us tinkering with our little tin can satellite kitchen on the front the past week.

The finishing touches are being made and we are happy to announce two new concepts to The Woollen Pig!

Launching Sunday we have Roast Box, available to dine in, collection or delivery from 12-7 each week.

(The bulk of the home drop spots have been filled due to word of mouth this week, please do not leave booking last minute...)

Piggin Spuds will be joining us from Wednesday 25th and their usual operational hours will be 11-3 Monday to Friday on a take away and home delivery basis only.

As you can imagine there is a lot going on behind the scenes to make this happen with new team members- many of whom are local youngsters who started with us on work based apprenticeships so be gentle and kind where possible as we endeavour to bring to you two great British dining staples

We have been working very hard behind the scenes getting our “micro pig” van ready to serve you, this will be based here with us in sunny Crossens.

The concept is a completely different food offering to what we currently provide, we will reveal all prior to opening next week but for now you tell us what you would like to see …

The fabulous Em from Kinetics will be there to guide you & then afterwards all come together for a coffee, croissant and of course a lovely chat 💓

We were joined by the family of Alice who have provided us with this photo to share in her memory and it's an absolute honour to have had Alice and her family as our customers and she, along with the other girls & all those injured, will remain in our hearts forever 🩷🩷🩷

We absolutely admire the support and compassion Crossens and Southport have shown as a community 🤍

Goodmorning all, The Woollen Pig team are providing a safe space for a remembrance bubble blow here in Crossens this Wednesday 7th August.

To remember the lives lost in this tragedy in our beautiful town. We’ll be remembering Alice Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Bebe King whilst sending bubbles to heaven.

Hi All

As some of you know, there are three of us - all called Tom, at the Arch (the former Crossens Methodist church transformed into offices and a recording studio). More recently with the help of our good friends Vici and Becki, we also finished the renovation of the old pharmacy that is now the Woollen Pig Crossens.

The last week has been absolutely surreal and very real at the same time.

We were extremely saddened to hear of the murders in Southport on Monday.

This isn’t about immigration or religion or nationality. It’s about the fact that a 17 year old boy from up the road, born and raised in the UK, took a knife into a local dance event organised for the benefit of entirely innocent children, killing three of them and severely injuring many more. The nature of the offence is sickening and we sincerely hope this young man spends the rest of his life in prison.

We were disgusted by the protests and riots which followed leaving local residents and businesses to clean up significant damage to their homes and premises. The influx of thugs looking for an excuse to incite hatred in our small seaside town are not an accurate representation of Southport.

There’s already been a lot of fundraising for those affected.

Alice Dasilva Aguiar, aged just 9, was the third child to pass after being taken to hospital.

We read how Alice’s parents from Venezuela and Madeira respectively lost their only child. Alice’s family live in Crossens and we are so sorry that this tragedy has resulted in the loss of their beautiful daughter.

We decided to donate to each of the girls and whilst it is minimal in the scale of what has happened, it is something that we hope will help as their families and friends try to process what has happened.

We’ve spread £3000 between the various pages. This donation is on behalf of us at the Arch and the Crossens community.

We’ll also be giving free studio time to a committee of local musicians who have been in touch to record a charity single which will help with fundraising.

We won’t be dwelling on notions of hate any longer however if you do have that in your heart, please do us all a favour and relocate. Antarctica would be a good start.

You’ll see that we illuminated the church in pink over the weekend and have worked with our friends Focal Studios Ltd and Adlib to project ‘Rays of Hope’ by Merseyside poet Levi Tafari.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those affected at this difficult time.
