Today we said farewell to our staff leavers and congratulated our talented students, at the end of year assembly.
We will see Sir as we work away during the holidays, but it was the end of an era.
Mr Wilkinson joined SGS in 2015 and has traded in his hi viz and duffle coat, for a tweed jacket and flat cap in the Yorkshire Dales.
Farewell and best wishes go to SG officer Mr Dormor and long serving Biologist and CFL Dr Dawkins, who are retiring.
Best of luck to Dr Twiddy, Mrs Harris and Mr Wilkinson, who are all moving onto pastures new. Thank you from all of us at SGS. We will miss you all!
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in September β˜€οΈπŸ“š

Flexyweek has been completed, with the final trips returning for our Year 7s, from France, the Lake District and Yorkshire. Year 12s have beeοΏΌn on work experience and the remaining year groups have taken part in a wealth of activities and off site visits.
Thank you to all staff that have been away on residentials, and to staff in school that have literally been here, there and everywhere.
We are one of the only schools to still undertake this huge organisational and logistical jigsaw. Mr Baker might say logistical nightmare!!

We couldn’t do this without the support of our SGS students, staff and parents.

We have a fantastic video montage of the week, so we will look to share this with you, along with an end of year newsletter.

Yesterday our sponsored walk was weather perfect. To see our students laughing and singing and talking with their friends, without technology along the 11 mile route, really closed the week brilliantly!!

Inspire Challenge and Enrich at its best!

Team work makes the dream work!

So far over Β£11,000 has been raised for Macmillan since 2022, with Mrs Ingram and Mrs Wild completing the two final challenges for 2024, RideLondon (103 m) and the Macmillan Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike (26.2 m).
Mr and Mrs Mardle also signed up to join the team, in the Dales Mighty Hike Half Marathon! What a fantastic achievement, surrounded by the amazing views in the Yorkshire countryside.
Well done all and thank you again for your support 🌳

Open Evening
Thank you to everyone that visited our Open Evening. It really is one of our favourite evenings of the year!
Where do we start?! Every subject was represented, and the energy and enthusiasm was something to be proud of. From the examination of a heart, to stocks, cakes, Tower Radio, Year 7 and 8 tour guides, Maths and P.E, our corridors were buzzing!
Thank you to our wonderful students and staff, your endless energy and passion for your subjects is something unique to SGS.

Recycle your uniform!

A chance for a summer term declutter!

It’s that time of year that we have lots of requests for uniform!
The Spalding Grammar School PFA are happy to accept any SGS logo items, in preparation for the arrival of our new Year 7s and the wider school.
Your son can take it to reception, or you can leave in a bag by the pedestrian gate.
It’s great for the environment and helps many in need too. Thank you 🌏

Well done all! It looks like there was some sunshine for the cricketers at last!

CRICKET: Our Year 9’s wait for a victory at SGS is over after a great performance away at Lincoln Minster School! Batting first SGS posted 153-5 thanks to great batting from Ravi Tamber-Hardy (43), Connor McGinn (37 n.o) & Danny Wright’s quickfire 32 off just 13 balls.

SGS knew they had to bowl well against Lincoln’s opening County batsmen to set up a victory. Key wickets from Josh White & Aarav Keshvara (who had a hat-trick ball) were taken inside two overs. SGS were then able to rotate their bowling outfit which included wickets for debutants Kaushal Chittamareddy, Ed Roffe & Findlay Rowe who himself bowled a hattrick of wickets to enjoyable scenes! SGS took the last wicket in the 17th over to win by 82 runs.

Squad: J. Riley, R. Tamber-Hardy, R. Valambhia, C. McGinn, D. Wright, K. Chittamareddy, F. Rowe, E. Roffe, A. Keshvara, J. White, A. Wing & J. Healey.

Well done cricketers!

CRICKET: Tonight two Year 9 teams selected by Mr. Walker faced each other in a thrilling match, incorporating everyone who has trained this year. Team Aarav won the toss and batted first posting a strong 139-8 from 18 overs with Ravi Tamber-Hardy (32) & Connor McGinn (25) top scoring whilst opposing captain Mujtaba Akram took 5-13 from his 3 overs.

Team Mujtaba’s start with the bat was a disaster as they found themselves three wickets down inside the third over after poor communication running. They improved steadily to get to 45-7 at the end of the seventh over. Then came a superb and unexpected partnership from Danny Wright and Kaushal Chittamareddy (22*). After retiring, Danny then came back to join his partner after the loss of further wickets and hit the winning runs to get to 50 not out as Team Mujtaba won by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to spare in an exciting finish!

The aim for a number of these students should be to attend a local club to play more regularly over the Summer! Thanks also go to former student Will Johnson who is currently on work experience with us for scoring the match. 🏏
