Spalding Round Table

We are just a group of guys under 45, who get out of the house every few weeks to do cool stuff.

Last night we held one of our annual quarterly business meetings at Spalding Golf Club. All officers gave their reports and we also discussed funding requests from our recent SMILE campaign and requests through our ways and means committee. We have agreed to give away just over £3,000 but more is still available.

After a successful festival where we raised about 50k for local charities we have now launched our smile campaign where you can apply for some of that money for a good course.

Also if anyone wants to join Spalding Roundtable please feel free to contact. This is a men’s only organisation and for anyone aged 18-45. There is also a ladies circle as well if anyone wants to join. We do events every other Monday and they include things like football, karting, burger making and even taking part in the festival. Also later this year starting in December we are taking part in a new event.

Smile, campaign can help The Spalding Round Table are looking to donate £15,000 in the next few weeks as part of its 'Smile'...

Last night our programme event was participating in the Area 30 pool competition held at the Sportsman in boston.

6 Spalding members went along, with 6 members from Deepings Round Table also attending. Unfortunately other clubs in the area didn't send any representatives.

We had a good night with pizza at half time.
5 of our lads got through to the quarter finals after playing group round robin games.

Darren and Coley exited at the quarter finals stage. Dave W overcame Clarky in an all Spalding semi final to make it into the final. Martin was fortunately lucky by winning the deciding frame of the other semi without playing a shot! His opponent fouled whilst potting his last ball to win and ultimately lost.

Martin then beat dave 2-1 in the final.

Good start to the first area sports event of the year.

Next one is clay pigeon shooting in a few weeks time.

Today we participated in the annual Spalding Flower Parade.
Our theme was a Knights Tale and our members plus children dressed up as knights and other characters.

It was brilliant to see so many people lining the route and so many smiling faces.

Massive thankyou to all our members who helped build it over the last few weeks, especially wives and girlfriends lending a hand (actually leading us in the right direction).

Special thanks go to
DC Signs for supplying the castle brickwork printing.
Tyrrell’s Farm for supplying all the flowers for our float. The Sweet Williams added vibrant colours and lots of lovely comments have been said about them.

Ode to the ale

"In Spalding's heart, where fields extend,
A festival brews, where friendships blend.
Among the crowds, a merry sight,
Lovers of ale, their hearts alight.

Craft lagers crisp, with flavours bold,
In glasses raised, their stories told.
Nitro stout, a creamy dream,
A feast for senses, a timeless theme.

From far and wide, they gather near,
To celebrate, with cheer and beer.
With hops and malts, their passion flows,
As laughter dances, and joy grows.

On the 24th to 26th of May,
In Spalding's embrace, they'll laugh and play.
For those who cherish the brewer's art,
This festival calls, a true sweetheart."

Our members couldn't be prouder of our contribution of £5000 to the TULIP SUITE in Spalding! 🌷

It was an absolute honour to receive a tour of the facility, where we had the opportunity to learn more of the the vision that the Hospice Foundation has for the space. Understanding the challenges faced only deepened our commitment to supporting such a worthy cause. 😊

This donation marks just one of the many ways our organization has been able to positively impact the Johnson Hospital Spalding in recent years. 🏥

Each contribution, including this one, has been made possible through the tremendous success of our primary fundraising event, the Spalding Festival. 🎸🍻

Photographed are our chairman, incoming vice chair and president.

Today a couple of our members went over to the official opening of Gosberton Youth Hub.

We recently supported them with the purchasing of the sports equipment, tv's for the digital den and a few other bits.

Next Friday 29th March it opens to the public in 2 sessions. 7-11 year olds then 11-16 year olds. They are aiming to open 1 Friday a month to start then increase then sessions depending on popularity.

The venue also hosts weekly bingo sessions, a monthly warm space for anyone to come along for warm drinks and somewhere just to have a chat. The large sports hall at the back is also available for hire for parties and events.

The main fundraising to help support our donation has come from proceeds from our Spalding Festival .

Tonight we held our 70th Charter Night at Spalding Golf Club. A 2 course meal followed by guest speaker, Jim Barker, of Williams Heritage.
He spoke about the history of Frank Williams and the Williams F1 team which he has been around for nearly 33 years. Now looking after their heritage collection, his knowledge was brilliant to listen to.

Thank you to everyone that attended. It was one of the best we have had for a long time.
