It was announced yesterday that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has opted not to recommend the gene-specific medicine Orkambi for use in the NHS. This drug addresses the underlying cause of Cystic Fibrosis by manipulating the mutated CFTR protein and as such can dramatically increase lung functions and the overall well being of patients. Under Canvas is currently following the CF Trust’s appeal to write to local MPs asking for the government to listen to their proposed solution. In 24 hours alone there has been more than 1,200 letters written to MPs, please write to yours too!
