Brenergy is back online and already the positive messages have reinforced why I’m doing what I love doing best!

There are some funnier messages that are a bit too sweary to put on here but they are my most favourite ones 🤣

I forgot just how offensive the word PULSE is to my Brenergy girls 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So being back online reconnecting to everyone and having fun, laughing and generally the uplifting energy has made me realise just how much I missed you all, it also made me realise how easy it is to get back on it.

So for you who may follow my posts but on the fence of what we do in here, how it all works etc here it is in a nutshell!

It’s so easy honestly just give it a try, you work to your own level , you can pause me, mute me even dislike me but I promise I will help you feel better in the long term, you will feel so good about what you are achieving and you will become brenergied.

If you don’t have weights improvise until you do, if you want to rest do until you don’t need to and if you are a fellow technophob but wants to learn then it’s easy so no stress I too learned 🤣

I’m just a mum who happens to be a fully qualified PT specialising in women’s health who herself as a peri menopausal woman is trying her best to be her best self and doesn’t like working out alone. I know the importance of community and how helping each other is so important so as I say if you are unsure or just need some help you are very welcome to join us.

Starting Monday 5th of February our Brenergy Online workouts for busy Mums 🥰

Workout from home with me live or on demand every Monday , Tuesday & Friday.

Private Facebook community where you can access the class links, replays, advice, support and inspiration from each other.

Classes are 30 mins long so easy to fit into your day and around family.

Total cost £40 for the month (£3.35 per class approx)

Classes will be designed to suit all fitness levels and abilities, focusing on strength, flexibility, core activation and fat burning.

Join me for the month of Feb, workout consistently with me and just see how amazing you will feel.

It can sometimes be tricky juggling life with kids and a lot of the time as mum’s we put ourselves to the end of the line of jobs we need to do, so working out sometimes doesn’t even make the list !

I have been working out with and around Maxi & Millie since they were born and I’m so glad I prioritised that time as not only did I benefit they did too. I’m happier, I have more energy and they not look at being Healthy as an important part of life but in a fun way and not a chore.

It’s by choice now that I workout now with M&M but there was that time I wished I could go to the gym myself but it wasn’t an option when they were small so I designed my workouts around and with them , and as they grew they just got used to me teaching and working out and I got used to them seeing me as a human climbing frame!

I love teaching and even more so teaching other mums find a way to get their workouts in while the children are around. So I have decided to go back online to provide classes to help more busy mums achieve their Health & Fitness goals without having to go out of the house or find childcare.

Just want to celebrate Lucy Mclennan the women with the iron legs!

One of our Brenergy success stories and she’s still going strong 💪

I can’t and won’t take any credit for what she’s doing now as it’s way past my abilities and I can’t keep up with her so im now her cheer leader 😂

Lucy has come so far on her health and fitness journey and to have been just a small part of it to now seeing how far she has come is what makes my job/passion so worth while.

As you can see she changed her body from a place of discomfort in her joints, less mobility , reduced energy levels and low self confidence to an unstoppable force!

She amazes me with her strength, endurance and not to mention speed!

I have had the absolute pleasure to train with Lucy over the last 5 years in classes and PT

I love her attitude and discipline to be her best self and in the last few months although I thought I couldn’t admire her more she really did do it again.

A few month ago she needed an outlet whilst going through one of the toughest times of her life and instead for giving up on herself she used what she had to step up another level both physically and mentally.

She put the miles in and still doing so, she dug deep and went on to do the Great Eastern 1/2 Marathon in 1 hour 47 mins and now in April 2024 with do her first Marathon!

I’m so proud of you Lucy , you found who you are, your inner strength and most of all your self belief.

As I say the women with the iron legs, I’m not sure she’s human to be honest I’d say more of a machine 😂🥰

You keep doing what you love and believing you can you beautiful humble butterfly 💕

Another beautiful sunny morning at our family fitness Bootcamp ☀️

It got pretty warm pretty quick and I’m sure it may have been something to do with the band work, muscles on fire 🥵

It may have also had something to do with the t shirt worn by one of our dads , I may have given him some extra weight and reps
😂😂😂💪 which he did with ease 💪💪💪

I also loved watching as parents became play equipment for their children it’s always fun to watch the little ones smile with delight when we lie down 😂

It all got a bit too much for some of our little people and a little nap was needed 😂💕💕💕

Great job everyone so great to start our Sunday morning working out together

We had a fab morning , we were lucky no rain just pain 😂

We were mostly used as human climbing frames and play things for our kids no one was safe 😂

Sunday mornings are just magical with you all, it sets up a very positive mind , mood and day 💕

Sunday mornings in the sunshine working out with family and friends 🥰.

It was such a beautiful morning too , we got the workout done before it got too hot 🥵

Our kids got to play together in the fresh air , we worked out so all in all we had workouts and play dates completed by 9.15am 💪

Who would like to fall in love with their belly again 🥰

Are you feeling frustrated with your tummy? Many of us are in different stages of our lives with different hormones affecting us in different ways but ultimately our tummies can be our most problematic areas or where we feel most uncomfortable within ourselves on a regular basis.

And as we age it can become more frustrating to manage our tummy fat and no matter what exercise or food plan we follow it can be so disheartening to not see the results.

I personally have been experiencing extra body fat deposits around my midriff which has come with Peri Menopause and an imbalance in my hormones amd it has been a big motivation for me to find a program to help with this.

We also start to lose muscle naturally at the age of 30 and it progresses with age especially durning peri amd menopause , we need to protect our bones to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and muscle loss to ensure we can we stay strong.

In May I will be rolling out a workout program designed on working with your hormones to help burn body fat, protect , maintain and increase muscle tissue along side improving mood, energy and overall improve our physical and mental health.

Workouts will be suitable for all fitness levels and capabilities so it doesn’t matter if you are fit or not as either way you will improve.

Our workouts will be online and you can access them live or on demand.

I absolutely love family fitness on a Sunday morning our kids get to play and watch what we do, we get to play with weights which may not be so much fun 😂 there are snacks, laughing, crying(adults only) and a massive impression we leave on our children in respect to living a healthy lifestyle.

Remember our kids will do what we do, they are like little sponges and learning all the time. Teaching them about their health from a young age can prevent so much unnecessary dis ease in their bodies as they age and with us as parents looking after our health too they can have us for longer living a better quality of life.

I’m not going to help you drop weight quickly or give you a quick fix

I’m not going to give you a restricted diet that depletes your body of energy and gives you low mood

I’m not going to promise you that in 10 sessions with me you will look like someone on instagram that you follow and want to mirror

What I will do for you though is

I will help you become Strong, Healthy, Happier.

Educate you on how your body works and what it needs to function in the healthiest way possible for you.

I will help you understand your hormones and why they affect your body, daily, weekly ,monthly amd how to work with them rather than against them.

I will encourage you to look at yourself as happy now and not when you fit into a certain size dress or reach that goal.

I will help you find a routine for your life, that works for you, that you can adapt and change where necessary but be confident that it can be your foundation for overall Health.

I will condition your body with you from the inside out so that you glow from within mentally, emotionally and physically.

I will help you create healthier lifestyle habits that you and your family will benefit from

I will guide you on a journey that helps you align with how you ultimately what to live your life, feel happy and comfortable with who you are and be the best version of you for you 🥰

I’m not the Personal Trainer for you if you if you can’t wait and want the quick fix now but I promise you, if you incorporate me into part of your life I will absolutely show you the compound effect of making the little changes to ensure you have long lasting positive change.

The Brenergy Online Fitness hub starts back tomorrow now that the kids are back to school, routine has resumed and the pressure of making New Years resolutions instantly has calmed down.

It’s important that we set ourselves a goal or look forward to a new year and creating Healthier Habits, but it’s way more important to find a way that works for you, that can suit your timetable, have someone who can help you achieve what you set out to do.

It’s also very important that you take your time and look for the long lasting results rather than the quick fix. I too can get caught up in the pressure of needing to jump on it and try to do too much too soon and then get overwhelmed.

If this is you and you need some help our Brenergy community could be the space you need. It’s such a happy and friendly area, you can be at any level , you work at your own pace and have ongoing support.

Join us in January to get you back into routine or find a new one. Classes are live 6.30am or you can do the replay at a time that better suits you.

All classes are low impact, weight bearing exercises to help you burn body fat, reduce inches, change your body shape, strengthen your muscles, increase bone density and overall help your body become stronger and fitter.

I promise there will be no burpees, no high impact moves but I also promise you that you will sweat, you will feel it and you will love it.

To one of my Hero’s Eloise Collins you have been through it and look at you still the Beautiful, Strong and Amazing woman I look up to.

From nailing her fitness and getting into great shape to then having a fall and a set back not only physically but mentally too as exercise is so important to this beauty, it’s her freedom, her release and her self care.

The last year you have been an absolute trooper, working through the low points, our many voice notes and conversations, your constant pain, lack of sleep, frustration to your operation, recovery and rehab to now, WOW what a super woman you are.

I love how you have committed to healing and recovering your body, rebuilding and trusting the process. It makes my heart so happy to see how strong you are today 💪.

The come back is always so much stronger than the set back 💕

My experience with Brenergy

I have been part of the Brenergy group for around 2 years now which I love . The classes are varied and fun and push me . I love our group of ladies 💚

The beginning of last year I unfortunately had a little accident and ended up needing shoulder surgery . It was such a long road of recovery ahead which got me really down sometimes. Exercise is so important to me physically and mentally that I hated not being able to do what I normally could . I cannot explain how much having Brenda’s classes , patience and support helped me get back 🙏🏼

My recovery period has been so much quicker than expected and today my shoulder feels almost back to the same strength and range as my other one. This is so much down to the guidance from Brenda . She always gave me alternatives no matter what the class and helped me adjust things when they were painful or not working. Having support to build up my strength and conditioning again has been absolutely amazing! So grateful to have her and the Brenergy team. I have some new heavier weights and just plan on getting stronger and stronger this year .

I started my fitness journey with Brenda during lockdown. Before that I was doing spin and cardio nearly every day at the gym so
when I was unable to exercise during lockdown, I joined the classes as they were a perfect time for me to do before work and all I can say is wow 3 years I’ve been doing the classes live I’m so strong now in my legs core and arms especially since Brenda added weights into the classes my confidence is so high and I’m starting to get more toned and liking the way I look.
I can’t thank brenergy enough it’s changed my life and my body 🥰

What about this for a transformation in 3 months

Steph came to me at the end of September and asked if I could help get her back on track, read her story in her own words.

I really do love my job , seeing people become Healthier, Happier, Stronger, Pain free and Feel happier in their own skin brings such value and worth to what I do for my passion.

Steph you put the work in and absolutely deserve the results so proud of you.🙏🥰

Steph’s Journey so far

To say that joining Brenergy has been life-changing would be an understatement. During my first Personal Training session with Brenda, I was a bag of nerves. Only a month previously had I injured my back (again, thanks to 12 years of ongoing issues) and I had just got back from a wedding, where putting on my bridesmaid dress made me realise how much weight I’d gained in such a short period of time. Before then, I had continuously been going to the gym for about a year and a half, but I had clearly been doing the wrong thing.

Through her eye-opening PT sessions, Brenda taught me how to regain confidence through dedicated work on my posture when weightlifting, which meant I no longer had to fear the twinge of a back or the click of the knee. I have been pushed to challenge myself both physically and mentally, and began to see very quick improvements.

A new-found confidence then led me to Brenergy’s online sessions. Four appropriately challenging sessions a week, targeting specific areas saw even further gains. Every session is different - I am never bored. And what specifically helps me is that Brenda continues to advise in these sessions on how to get it right.

I underestimated how important it was to have your knee in the right place, or your shoulders positioned carefully. It’s this educating that has been key in my progress and that learning never stops.

Through the Brenergy Hub, I am constantly learning about other aspects of my health that I had never considered before. My diet has significantly improved thanks to improved knowledge about food, I walk 10,000 steps a day because I now understand (and can see!) the benefits, and I am far more aware now of what my body is trying to tell me.

Thanks to Brenda, I am now more confident, more energised and generally happier with my lifestyle.

First time I have EVER been able to wear a jumpsuit as my body shape just didn’t fit in any no matter the size! (Also, it’s a large size ten, but still a size ten jumpsuit!) xx

With a grateful heart thank you to everyone for your ongoing support for my Brenergy business over the last year. I have absolutely loved every minute of it and look forward to another amazing year of reaching health goals, transformations, building friendships and creating more healthy habits together.

I can’t even begin to put into words just how much I love what I do and how I appreciate each and everyone of my clients and also those of you who like, share and support me over social media it really doesn’t go unnoticed and I really am very grateful.

Shout out to this absolutely pocket rocket 💪. A few years ago menopause had caught Katie off guard, she was training really hard , lived a really active lifestyle and ate well but her hormones were dominating her results.

We switched up her workouts to more strength training, increased her protein and fibre with a balance of healthy carbs and fats and the results are evident.

She’s currently on holiday rocking out our online workouts, enjoying a cocktail or two and eating in balance.

Who else needs to review their workouts and foods which worked pre menopause but don’t seem to have the same impact now.

How to Get Rid of Your Menopause Fat Gain

Laying the Groundwork

To help get rid of that menopause belly fat, we’re going to need to work out your unique fat-loss strategy.

Starving yourself isn’t going to work, because 1) it isn’t sustainable weight loss and 2) when you starve yourself, your body goes into starvation mode and actually stores even more calories. So we can’t starve ourselves to success, but we can’t just eat whatever we want either. That much is obvious. So in response, people often try fad diets, but again these don’t work because you can’t sustain them. Rice and chicken are low-calorie but they’re seriously boring and you’ll never stick to this kind of eating pattern.

The solution? You need to identify healthy foods that you like and that you can happily eat day after day without sneaking in a pizza because you’re sick of forcing down couscous.

Browse recipe books, healthy food websites and try new dishes. To lose fat, you need to be in a caloric deficit, which is when the amount of food you eat provides less energy than your body needs to maintain its current weight.

If you find great healthy foods, you can easily do this without having to skip meals or eat lettuce for lunch.

Finally, you’ll need to work out what kind of exercises you like. Nutrition is important for fat loss, but so is exercise. High-intensity cardio may burn away calories fast but it might not be sustainable for you.

You need to find exercises that you can do without injury and those you feel driven to do. If you hate your exercise programme, you’ll find every reason you can to bin it and do something else.

There are so many types of exercises and sports out there that there is absolutely going to be something you enjoy doing, even if you’ve never been a fan of workouts or have limited ranges of mobility. Back problems? Try swimming. Strapped for time? Home workouts can fit around your business lifestyle.

Resistance Training: The Answer to the Menopause Belly Fat Problem?

You can’t change your hormonal structure, so there are some uphill battles of menopause that you’ll just have to face in order to fight off the belly fat. But there are others we can address a bit more easily to maximise results. There are three core factors that we can look at:

Menopause results in lower levels of muscle mass, but muscle requires more energy to sustain day-to-day.
Menopause results in higher levels of insulin, but muscle mass can help stabilise insulin levels.

Menopause slows your metabolism, but more muscle mass speeds it up.

Notice a pattern here? Beating that weight around your belly can benefit from strength training, and many women see great results from lifting weights. Generally speaking, it’s more common for women to favour cardio exercise over muscle-building, but introducing weight training to your routine can increase your body’s requirement for energy, boost overall metabolism and contribute towards the stabilisation of high insulin levels that are creating all that unwanted belly fat.

Make Your Schedule and Commit to It

A schedule for your fat-loss journey is so important. And no, it’s not so you can beat yourself up for not reaching your goals, but so you can track your progress. To lose fat, you have to be committed, and schedules help you work out a strategy that pushes you forward.

Exercise here and there, healthy dinner when you can manage it — that’s not going to cut it.

Build a weekly schedule of when you’re going to train, what you’re going to eat and stick with it. It’s okay if you can’t meet your schedule needs. It’s hard to know from day one how we’ll respond to a new training regime, but the best results are all about sustainability and accountability.
