With just over 2 weeks to go until the preview of our new exhibition - a solo exhibition with Margaretann Bennett - the excitement is starting to build in the Gallery.

“Work centres round themes which I’m passionate about: beautiful decay and remembrance, Victorian mourning, memento mori and the holding on to love despite inevitable loss through the inexorable passing of time.

From smaller investigative works exploring the poignant motifs of tombstones and family crypts, sometimes with faded, stained portraits, to reimagined landscapes in large abstract form exploring the rich textures and surfaces of this subject matter.”

In the upstairs gallery there will be a Featured Artist Exhibition with Victoria Wylie, as well as new paintings by Caroline Bailey RSW and ceramics by Jill Sievewright.

We visited Scotland’s Trade Fair on 18/19 August at the - we love coming to this event and finding fabulous new makers. It’s definitely the best way to catch up and coming talent.

This is Rook Totem, which I have recently photographed (monotype 25 x 35 cms). She will feature in my Solo Show of new work at Greengallery next month. Just one of several new figurative works that will sit alongside my tombstone explorations and larger scale abstract works.

We may have had an endless list of jobs to do in Spain, but it certainly wasn’t all work and no play! We had plenty of very happy days relaxing with family and friends.

Ads has become a dab hand at the ping pong table, and after her hectic schedule, Coco spent her siestas chilling in her fave spot!

There is always a good excuse to go shopping... even Coco agrees!

In between all the gardening and DIY jobs, we are always searching for Spanish style inspiration wherever we go, and keeping an eye out for great finds in the markets and shops.

But what should we buy..!? We love this sideboard with hessian cupboards.

Swipe to see our bargain flea market finds. 4 chairs for 80 euros - they just need a bit of teak oil!

Summer..! Not quite sure where the time has gone - but we were fortunate enough to return to our Spanish home in the hills.

5 hot weeks filled with lots of DIY, shopping and searching for inspo - and of course we made sure we had plenty of time for fun times with family and friends!

This time we drove - and we took Coco with us! 30 long hours but we enjoyed plenty of stops - including San Sebastian for our wedding anniversary.

Stay tuned (here and on stories) over the next few days and enjoy our little travel log as we share the highs and lows of working, and relaxing, in the hot Spanish heat…!
