Yes or no to floatation devices? ๐ค
No.
These types of floatation devices do not teach your baby anything other than to be away from you in such a strange environment.
Babies need your comfort and reassurance in the swimming pool and the best way is by holding your baby, if you're not sure how to hold your baby in the water my online courses cover everything you need to know from entering the water with your baby, safe ways to hold your baby, swimming positions and more.
Skin to skin with your baby will make them feel safe and secure making them feel at ease and happy with their new surroundings.

Once your little one has good head control try this swimming position.
How to perform this skill;
๐ Start by holding your baby away from you around their torso.
๐ Bring them around to your side resting your elbow on their bottom.
๐ Stay low in the water so that you are at eye level with your baby.
๐ Ensure their mouth is out of the water.
๐ Start walking around with them, this will give them the sensation of swimming through the water.
๐ This swimming position gives them.more freedom with their arms.
๐ Try placing a floating toy in front of them and watch as they try to grab the toy.
Give it a go and let me know how you get on ๐ฆ๐๐

These are great to encourage more movement from your little ones arms as armbands can restrict their arm movement.
My boy loves wearing his and being a shark!
They go on your little ones back and fasten around their tummy. Best suited to little ones from around 2 years old.
Paddling Pool Safety! โ
Paddling pools are a great way for kids to cool off in the summer, but they can also be a drowning hazard.
Here are some safety tips to help keep your children safe:
Always supervise children when they are near water, even if it is just a paddling pool.
Empty paddling pools when they are not in use and turn them upside down.
Teach children how to swim and how to stay safe in and around water.
By taking these precautions, you can help to keep your children safe from drowning.
Even if you're just stepping inside to get something, take your child with you.
Sinking seal rings by
In this video we give you tips on how to improve your child's water confidence using these fun sinking seals by
๐ฆTheir are so many ways you can use these sinking toys, they have small holes in and when submerged slowly fill up with water making them sink under the water.
Follow these simple and easy steps;
1. Start on some steps where your child and stand and feels in control, this will make reaching down to collect them super easy and fun.
2. Once they feel confident doing this you can put them a little more out of reach encouraging your little one to reach even further helping them to bring their mouth towards the water.
3. Place them even deeper and say they have to blow bubbles when the reach down to collect them.
4. Drive them around the pool like a steering wheel for a car or bus and encourage bubbles to start the engine.
5. Over time your little one will be dipping their face in which is the start of submerging themselves under the water.
Remember if they are in control they will feel more at ease in the water. :)

I would always say to my mums it's fine to give your baby a top up feed, but best on the poolside away from distractions and have your towel at the ready to keep them snuggly and warm as the air temperature will feel cool to your baby. Once fed, you can then get back in. Swimming is hungry work and it's fine to give your baby a top up feed if they need one.
