It is with the deepest sadness that we announce that on Saturday 8th May 2021, Mr Peter Robinson, Joint Life President and Retired Chairman of Robinsons, passed away peacefully with his family at his side.

Peter joined the family business on 21st January 1957 as Company Secretary and was appointed a Director in 1962 a position which he held for over 50 years, and Chairman from 1978 to 2020, just over 42 years.

He will be fondly remembered by Robinson’s licensees for his regular afternoon visits whether it be to look at completed investments, to meet new licensees, or while judging the pubs external floral competition he organised, keeping a meticulous record of each of his visits over all the years.

The Chairman and the Board recorded their thanks to Peter for all he did to enhance the business throughout his working career and condolences to the family at this difficult time.

ROBINSONS WELCOMES MP’S SUPPORT IN CHALLENGING THE REQUIREMENT FOR VACCINE PASSPORTS TO VISIT PUBS

We have today responded to the idea of requiring a vaccine passport in order to visit the pubs. The Prime Minister’s suggestion that over 16’s will be required to present vaccine certificates or ‘passports’ to visit the pub, is simply not workable. The suggestion again wrongly singles out pubs, and will deprive society of the opportunity to meet in safe and COVID-secure environments - most probably leading to an increase in uncontrolled meetings in parks and private houses.

We ask the Prime Minister and other senior cabinet ministers to put a stop to this damaging speculation, and to allow pubs to re-open under the same rules as they did last summer.
