Let the countdown begin! Just 16 days now to the 'one night only' theatre production of the SOME OTHER GUYS show at the Shakespeare North Theatre in Prescot. Prospero Place, Prescot, L34 3AB

I have enjoyed the opportunity to Produce and Write the show, and assisting the original Alan Noone, my father in law and 1960's Liverpool drummer par excellence, to bring this show to a prime North West audience.

Unlike Alan Noone who despite advancing years, aligned to fact that he was drumming in The Cavern Club in 1961, many of his peers have passed on, are past it, or simply don't do that kind of thing any more.

But thankfully he is not alone and there are still a hand picked few performers of a certain vintage, that are still smashing live gigs in 2024. Each has a tale or two to tell, both in song and stories, and they all form part of the show.

So we have been delighted to welcome to our performance cast the legend that is Mr Pete Maclaine, of Pete Maclaine and the Clan fame, and the man who said no to the Beatles! (read the book!) Pete will be bringing the Rock'n'Roll to the party and singing original songs recorded on the DECCA label in 1962, when working alongside Brian Epstien and the Beatles, to name but a few.

We also welcome Ian Goodhall, AKA Tony D and the Shakeouts, who recorded on PYE/Piccadilly record Label in 1964. Ian will perform songs from the era and the ones that got away, as they did for so many of the 'other guys' who were musicians and singers at the time.

With further guest vocal performances from Bob Blakeley (BBC Televisions - The Voice) and the fabulous Daisy Kate bringing her crystal clear vocals and musicians prowess on guitar and piano to represent the female stars of the 60's, I think we are in for quite a show and I hope that you can join us.

Gillan Edgar is our Musical Director, assisted by guitar legend Jim Wilson, Steve Hall on Piano and Keyboards, and your truly hacking away on Rhythm and Harmonica, we hope does justice to the remarkable 60th anniversary of the music that changed everything, breaking America in 1964 and making POP music a truly global phenomenon for the first time. A legacy that remains today.
