Wonki Bits

All items are unique, handmade & individually crafted by Colin Muddimer. Ring 07772870052 during sociable hours.

Each piece is made using reclaimed wood which would have otherwise been binned or burned. I am not a business - I just have a good workshop.

28/08/2024

Saturday 31st August 2024 - in other words THIS SATURDAY.
Cavendish Fete is one of the best attended in the county and is always a roaring success. The Scarecrow Festival is EPIC.
PLUS: Wonkibits will be in attendance with serious price reductions as I am bowing out disgracefully, due to me knees.
Wonkibits, as an entity, complete with all equipment, tools, online shop and intellectual property - including the phone number & phone! - is also available for anyone to buy. It would suit a person with an interest in wood who could do with a revenue stream.
See you Saturday on the green>
Hope so.

28/08/2024

Wonkibits will have its final sheduled sale on Saturday 31st August at Cavendish Fete & Scarecrow Festival. An event not to be missed!

Photos from Wonki Bits's post 10/08/2024

I haven't seen much, if any publicity for this event TODAY Sat 10th Aug at Acton Village Hall & Rec. Wonkibits will be there with MASSIVE PRICE CUTS ON ALL CURRENT STOCK. Folding barrel top table down by one third and ALL stock reduced by similar, or even greater amounts. NOW is your time to bag your cheap Xmas (sorry, I used the C word) pressies and your uniquely quirky (and possibly non-PC) Secret Santas.
And Wonkibits, the whole thing, including ALL machinery and equipment is now for sale as well, so anyone who would like to make a small investment in a profitable revenue stream would benefit from talking to me.
And I have a mobility scooter for sale as well.
So, you can see that you all really should come down to the Rec at 12 noon or before. BARGAINS to be had.
🙂

01/08/2024

Saturday 10th August - Acton Village Hall - another iopportunity to buy all your Xmas present needs (yes, it's approaching - 146 DAYS IN FACT!) at this Charity Fete for St Nick's Hospice.
*Remember, too, that WONKIBITS itself is up for grabs (all equipment in my workshop, and all remaining stock, online shop, saite, etc.) so please come along.

18/07/2024

So, yes, the rumours are true.
Wonkibits is for sale. The whole caboodle. All workshop equipment, all machinery, all powered tools, all cordless, all hand tools, all stock, all benches & all storage.
All templates, all designs, even the phone number.
I can't carry on with both knees out of action so I want a clean break with little fuss. If it's here and it's to do with 'Wonkibits', it's included; side benches and everything
This business opportunity would suit someone who has recently been made redundant, is a hard worker, has some space for a workshop (there is quite an amount of equipment & machinery - including CNC laser & routing!) and a willingness to build the Internet side of things.
I haven't run this as a fully fledged 'business' as such, so there is an immense potential for a large increase in sales. I hate selling.
I hate selling Wonkibits, but the time is right.
At normal selling prices, the currently held stock would sell for a sum in excess of £1000. It's all included. Even the big trade gazebo and all the display gear.
For a comprehensive list of everything that is included, please email [email protected]. Price upon application. It would be a sound investment for someone with energy (and two good knees :-( )
I'd be happy if anyone would share this. I hve been stung by an agent in the past. Ta muchly.

So we've had the longest day.
We have harvests. Soon we will have the 'Mists and autumn fruitfulness...'
Then it's all downhill until the 'C Word'.
Well, fear not, as the 'C Word' pressie opportunity is here on Saturday with Acton Villge Summer Fayre.
Your faithful Wonkibits has all manner of very affordable unique and quirky stuff that you can squirrel away until December, ready for the up-rushing F season. I have LOADS of affordable gifts that you'll get nowhere else, so head for my stall and you will be SOOOO pleased that you did.
Especially if you want homewares, food boards, presentation platters, Lazy Susans and lots of other entertainment gear to bamboozle your friends at BBQs and inside parties.
AND, if you are a fan of dogs, I have OOOOODLES of stuff for you. Lost of it laser cut for your entertainment, amusement or emotional feelings.
Saturday 29th pm, and if you use Ruth at All Breeds Grooming, she has the dog stuff coming out of 'er ears!

LOADS of Wonkibits doggie stuff available at Belchamp St Paul Fete on Sunday June 2nd together with a new load of other lines and the Camervanner's ideal barrel top folding leg tables, etc.
Where?
Belchamp St Paul, of course!

Well, it's hapenning on 4th July - we'll soon need one of these.
This one was pictured before the finish was applied, but you'll get the idea.
Yes, they are available in various forms and combinations of wood; they are all different and all unique.
Not like Westminster politicians.

Dog kitchen roll holders.
Spanielly type woof, and lab with raised ears, in two positions.
Double sided so you get two views for the price (£10) of one!
Baize coated bases, all hardwood, except for the roll post.
Great for dippy dog owners :-)

Oak. About 9" x 4" (25x10 cms), with a wire hanger on the back, or could be freestanding. Wonkibits.
Cat people?

06/04/2024

How about this for a folding leg occasional table, made from a whisky barrel top that had seen better days.
(You can get all manner of barrel products from JMB Benches of Acton by the way. His barbecue & pub benches are exemplary.)
The shapely oak legs pull out and click into place, then fold away again once they are released. The hinges are costly, but....
This is shown here without a finish, just the bare oak, but it should end up with a nice wax coating, highlighting the grain.
Yours for £75.

Drive Fast Die Young 16/03/2024

* I have just watched "Drive Fast: Die Young", a half-hour documentary made by a young fella whose younger brother was killed as a passenger in a car being driven irresponsibly by a mate.
* I have often offered a persuasive Advanced Demo Drive, and a two-hour helpful driving session to the offspring of my ex-students because I know fully how the young mind - particularly the male - behaves at that point in their brain development. We offer them a projectile just at the point that they are most likely to abuse it fatally. No-one thinks that they will. Most just get injured, but lots don't survive. It's how we males are built.
* I was fortunate that at that time in the development of my male brain I was able to excercise my natural male madness on racing circuits under racing conditions and racing regulations & standards.
Fortunate indeed.
* Please watch this wonderful programme. Get your offspring to watch too. Before they drive AND AFTER their test. Get them to take up any offer of help to gain realisation of the responsibility that pointing that wheeled projectile at innocent members of the public.
* Get them to see the probable end result of driving like a dick'ead and showing off to everyone how 'clever' they are. "Smokin' Tyres" does not show how good, you are, but how irresponsible and dangerous you are to yourself and others.
* I know that I sound like a borin' ol' git. I know I am. But I'm a borin' ol' git who cares about how the young driver drives, and how dangerous their driving can be.
* PLEASE get your young drivers - male and female - to watch this programme. Please urge them to take ANY opportunity to get advice and information about how to drive correctly, responsibly, safely, properly, respectfully, nicely....... If they want to drive like they have stolen the car they can get a Track Day. Please do - the experience of a proper racing track is a joy to behold - but please disuade young drivers or riders to treat the public road as a racing circuit.
* I know I will take some stick for this post, but I am prepared to be called all sorts of things for it because I feel so passionate about it (an overused phrase these days - but true) that I'm prepared to be a whipping boy for the cause of helping young drivers to realise the natural dangers.
* Drive fast; Die Young. iPlayer.

It'll soon be October, so the Wonkibits Log Reindeer season will be upon us before we can say "GO RUTT!"
These have not yet grown twiggy antlers, but they will have grown them for the October Bury St Edmunds Maker's Market on Sunday October 1st.
They are, of course, all named. We have Lucy Lastic (we don't talk about her), Wonky Winnifred, Flat(ulent) Freddy.... Clever Trevor, of course; we also have Pretty Boy (not) and Scarface, Big Billy! and Tiny Timmyboy.
They were scuttling about in the workshop trying to get in the pictures because they are excited about going to their new forever homes, because a Wonkibits-Workshop Log Reindeer isn't just for ONE season of (the C word which I refuse to type until nearer to Xmas.... er... oops.) it/he/she will be entertaining your family for festive seasons galore.
Prices are £5 upwards, most are £8, £10 or £12. Bigger ones available to order. MESSAGE ME or ring me if you have my number. Retirement hours, please, as I am not a business, just an ol' git who makes things.
Come and choose your own - they are all different.

There are more than 40 items on my shop site now: wonkibits-workshop.com, so if you are looking for a gift for the person who has everything, they won't have one of these! I'll be able to take orders from mid-week next week, back in action. Mother's Day approaches too.

07/01/2023

Well; I gone'n'dunnit!
The shop page is up & running.
wonkibits-workshop.com is live, all set and ready for orders.
It really makes no difference to me, as I am STILL NOT A BUSINESS, just some retired ol' git in Suffolk with a good workshop.
But the thing is that I have just managed to get a toe-hold on the 21st century - a bit late, but hey.....
Either way, I hope that you will have a browse and order items that have been made. You KNOW that you want to have something made by me. And I offer money iff if you visit the workshop to collect it.....and you meet ME again!
I mean....what am I going to do with them if you don't buy 'em?
Go on....help me out and buy 'em. Then I can make more.
If I don't make, I will go ga-ga again.
Seriously.
Ta muchly.

24/10/2022

I am trying to get a shop page organised for Wonkibits. I WILL manage it soon, honest!

Small AND large 'Expectation' for families who have a littlie on the way, loo lid AND loo seat for the Lulus and four different twine clocks.
Wonkibits is busybusybusy!

14/04/2022

Wonkibits goes mobile....Easter Sunday on Sudbury's Market hill at the Green Market and then two weeks later at the Maker's Market at Bury St Edmunds and then various other markets during the summer and autumn. I have learnt a great deal about selling from Sarah-Marie Underhay at Duck in Boots and so now I'll give it a go.
Come along to see what's on offer.
Remember that all items have been made from wood that was destined to be binned or burned, so no innocent trees have been harmed in the production of these quirky items.
Gifts for that awkward person who 'has everything'.

Photos from Wonki Bits's post 28/02/2022

A pair of Midnight Munchie platters. 14" long including stubby handle, and 5" wide. I won't split the pair. £25.
Ok, I'll split the pair if you wish - £24.95 each!
I have both ash (shown) and beech available.
Either PM me or ring 07772870052 as I won't see a reply here. Regards.

Photos from Wonki Bits's post 16/02/2022

Mother's Day approaches.
Duck in Boots in Sudbury has these lovely beech hardwood MUMs as well as cheaper copies in softwood that the ankle-biters can decorate to give that personal touch.
I have a range of charcuterie boards available to choose from at the Acton workshop - with or without a live edge. They are some lovely hardwood platters; I am so pleased with them.
I can't take card payment over the phone but I can take it in person if you come to the workshop.
Most things can be posted for about £4-5 (UK) and I can show you things by an arranged videocall to make choices.
ALWAYS ring me on 07772870052.
NEVER leave a note on here; ta muchly.
Remember, I am not a business, just an ol' git with a good workshop. :-)
