Ongoing on the dotting table!
I’ve been a bit quiet the last week or so, there’s been a lot to contend with! But the dotting goes on an various projects are slowly coming to life…..
This new addition to my shop is being offered at a discount price as I had to repair it after an accident during the varnishing phase. It got stuck to the surface and some dots came off! I have repainted them and it hardly shows. 😅
Some progress on the sunflower. Not perfect but I have ideas on how to improve it next time.
I’m pondering over some blue background for definition …. But I also like seeing the natural wood. Hmmmm…..
I’ve been wanting to create a sunflower stone for, well, a long time! My friend Sarah nudged me with a comment on my previous post, so here’s the first stage! I’m
not sure where it’s going or if it will turn out well, but I do like the fact that I’m using a wooden pebble from which feels just right for the subject!

Today’s addition to my Etsy shop. A medium turquoise and gold stone. The stone was hand cast in plaster and painted black before dotting and varnishing. A little gem!
Just had to keep dotting those babies!

I really had intended to keep my work space tidy this year but once I had made some tiny stones from my new mould from Devon Dotting Company I was just too excited to clear up and had to dive in with some dots!

I love the texture of . Their fluid acrylics have just the right consistency for smooth even dots, and their metallics are simply brilliant!

and off to the spray booth for a coat of black gloss.
This gives a smooth surface for painting and enables easier removal of rogue dots (and there are plenty of those!). But stray paint is toxic stuff until dry, so the lid goes on quickly after spraying to contain the spray mist.
