Aimed at those who want to develop their skills in creating image and/or video content. Focussing on brand guidelines and using softwares such as Photoshop, Canva and more!

Designed for beginners, you'll be supported in a range of essential areas, whether you want help setting up online accounts or just help learning how to use social media- this course could be for you!

There will be no Digital Drop In Sessions at Tesco Community Room until Thursday 3rd October and no sessions at Diego's Joint until Monday 23rd September.

The sessions at our other locations will continue as normal, as will the above sessions after the dates provided.

JUNE 10th - 16th, 2024 is MEN'S HEALTH WEEK

Taking the lead from King Charles who, earlier this year, shared that he had a problem with an enlarged prostate. On the day after his announcement, there were 16,410 visits to the relevant National Health Service website page compared with 1,414 visits the previous day. Prostate Cancer UK saw an almost doubling in the number of users of its online risk checker.

This goes to show the difference that honest sharing can make. Most of us won't have same impact as the King - for a while in the UK media, it was difficult to avoid urologists talking about the prostate and the things that can go wrong with it - but if there is a taboo about men's talking, well, the best way to beat a taboo is to ignore it.

💻 ATTENDEE HIGHLIGHT 🥳

This is Joe Glancy from The Little Company of Calm

Joe is using our Digital Drop In Sessions at Tesco with Lisa to create and edit content using a combination of Zoom, Canva and YouTube to share the recordings of his Mindfulness program and also to create flyers to promote face to face sessions and courses in various locations.

The course itself is brand new, with participants attending both in person as well as online via zoom, and therefore quite innovative with participants accessing sessions for as far afield as Finland!

'It really is quite magical that I am able to work with Zoom, Canva and Youtube, absolutely amazing actually! It's opened my eyes as to how much is involved, but if I can do it, with no digital arts and media background, anyone can! I also want to mention how patient and understanding the tutor Lisa has been, when my confidence has occasionally been low" - Joe

By gaining the skills in the digital drop ins The Little Company of Calm is now able to do more online sessions from various settings and therefore allowing more people to join in and benefit from a variety of programs such as the monthly practice groups.

🎉 ATTENDEE HIGHLIGHT 🥳

This week we’d like to give a massive shout out to Paul… a long time attendee at our Digital Drop Ins.

Paul is working hard to find himself a new place to work, and was overwhelmed by the amount of emails he’d receive from the multiple job sites he joined to assist in his search.

At our centres, we worked with Paul to organise his inbox, inform him on how to best manage his emails to ensure he sees the information he wants to see, and receives less of the spam that clogged his inbox.

And now… Paul is a seasoned pro! Paul manages his emails into sections, archives the emails he no longer needs to see, and keeps his inbox clear.

Paul can now call up any previous email he needs from his archive, but doesn’t need to have them litter his inbox and cloud his job search.

Well done Paul! ✉️📧

Let's shine a spotlight on the incredible achievements of our attendees here at ! 🎉 We're thrilled to share the inspiring journey of one of our regulars from Lisa's TESCO DROP IN sessions in Sunderland.

One of our attendees has been using our sessions to master PC skills and PowerPoint wizardry to host her courses on Psychological Trauma. 💻✨ Despite facing the challenges of COVID, she completed a postgrad degree in psychological trauma and went on to develop her own course. But here's the catch: she needed help digitising it and creating engaging PowerPoint presentations, lacking prior IT experience and confidence.

Thanks to her dedication and our drop-in sessions, she's now crafting captivating presentations for her course! 🌈 Her courses, delivered at the Recovery College in Sunderland, have garnered great feedback!

None of this would've been possible without her perseverance and our supportive community. 🤝

As you know we use the Tesco Extra Sunderland Community Room each Thursday to support people in all things digital. 💻 Suesie their community champion is always there on hand to support us and other cic’s and charities. 🤗

She has endeavoured to skydive for the charity 4Louis. 4Louis works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child.

I was an only child for many years, always dreaming of a sibling. 10 years ago I was blessed with my little bro Oliver. Now I know I’ll always have someone to turn to through my life, and I feel blessed that I can be a role model to the little lad. Love him dearly.

My older sister has always been a source of support, guiding me through some of life’s ups and downs with unwavering encouragement. She’s often ‘encouraging’ me to try new things, usually by buying me tickets to see bands I’ve never heard of - which I always end up enjoying! I of course return the favour by being the least organised person in the family and she often keeps me right when it comes to dates/times.
