The Coffee Bloom

Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something about the cool autumn air that feels so nostalgic🙈🤣. I enjoy taking walks whenever I can in this season- it sorts my head out like a special kind of magic everytime🍃🚶🏻‍♀️, just like the first sip of coffee on a crisp morning. ☕️

Saying goodbye to August and those long summer days ☀️ As starting to feel that familiar crispness in the air, there’s something comforting about the thought of cozy sweaters, golden leaves and soothing scent of cinnamon and spices 🍁 And…there’ll be something special brewing for the new season soon✨

If it weren’t for Affogato, we might never have discovered the vibrant community of Hackbridge. It all started when a lovely lady visited us in Sutton last year. She fell head over heels for Affogato and introduced us to the local gathering. Thanks to her, we found our people and our place! Now, we’ve secured a stable & permanent spot in the area, and have even become proud residents. 💜 Sometimes, when we reflect on it, it feels like destiny brought us here 😂 And it was one of the best things that happened to us.

📣 Free tours of Lumley Chapel 9am - 2pm!
📣 Bacon sandwiches etc at Ye Olde Red Lion, Cheam from 7.30!
📣 A chance to support local charities and small local businesses!

It has been challenging weeks to us as we flew across the ocean to see our family, just the week after we moved house. What can we say is… totally worths it😍

Culture wise, coffee shops (or kissatens) in Japan serve as a place to alleviate oneself from social pressures (in busy cities like Tokyo) and connect with friends (in less busy cities). Popular brewing methods of hand drip and siphon which requires patience, precision and appreciation of refined flavours embody the country’s culture of attention to details and emphasis of quality👏🏻

Iced drinks are back (as requested)! And it’s not gonna be long for the return of Spring & Summer Specials, there will be new additions and we’re working on it🍹!

Why named it ‘Coffee Bloom’? 🌸 Some may wonder.
Simply because it’s a pleasure to see the grounded coffee ‘blooming’ (swipe right to see more) during extraction. And ‘bloom’ with dual meaning of a moment of beauty, freshness and vigor - like when we enjoy coffee. Obviously that’s what we wish for, to help a little on blooming your mood & spirit to start a new day.

Week mission is completed! We’ve met almost everyone before new year, sending & receiving blessings 💝

Thank you for all of your warm support & kindness in the past year. We’re genuinely glad that we made acquaintance to each other.

We’ll take a week off on Christmas times, and maintain the trailer a bit. Will be back on 4th January! If we missed you this week, we wish you a lovely Christmas & a wonderful new start of 2024✨

Today we’re gifted some Christmas balls and ‘ding’ - the trailer now looks much more Christmasy🎄Big credit to Terrance for the help of decorating, and the red & golden balls ✨

And also we’re already serving popular festive specials! What else to do for the best time of the year? - just patiently waiting for the snow ❄️

Getting ready, just like any other day 🚐.

Some of you might wonder why we weigh the coffee EVERY TIME before brewing. People asking ‘What’s wrong with that bit?😂’ when I add or put away some coffee. Here’s the answer - Get the perfect extraction by ensuring there’s the ideal amount of coffee so the water filters through at a pace that extracts flavour. And yes, a few grams more or less could lead to erroneous extraction and ‘bad’ coffee.

We dial in every morning to make the most out of the beans without any burnt or unpleasantly acidic flavours. As we currently own a manual coffee grinder thus we’d need to measure it for every cup, it could take a minute but we guarantee it is worth the wait 💜.
