Motivational Monday
Yesterday was a very extremely proud coaching moment day!
Matty joined me with PT at the beginning of 2020 and was struggling with back squatting 40kg. 3 years on and he’s competing at intermediate level smashing out a 100kg Clean, Front Squat and STOH complex.
With the right coaching, the right training and the right support around you, anything is possible!
Apologies for my language in the video but I know how much lifting that weight meant to him and how hard we have both worked to get him there. (Definitely worth putting your sound on for the 2nd video)😂

Kicking off the New Year’s You Can Kettlebells with some functional movement.
Training shouldn’t be just about moving backwards and forwards. Running, rowing, push ups, squats, burpees, lunges, etc. are all amazing exercises but your body is capable of so much more.
Add that lateral and rotational movement in your hips, legs and arms to build a foundation in your core and glutes and watch how your strength and fitness excel over the year!

Kicking off the new year with Mohawk’s Sunday Club

Can’t wait to run this 3 week programme with the test week at the end. Setting the results during test week and then returning back over the programme to see the strength and fitness gains. Periodisation and accountability.

Mindset Monday
Sometimes it’s hard to have the motivation to train, to stay on your nutrition, to get up early, the weather and the change of season doesn’t help but it’s the consistency of keeping a steady routine and to keeping plugging at it, that will help you and the small changes that will keep you motivated.
Life is like a squat, once it gets you down, you’ll have to come back up at some point! Even if you look like you’re taking a dump and everyone is watching!😂💩

What is Mohawk Fitness Sunday Club?
Whether you’re a beginner, everyday or advanced athlete, this club is for you!
Sunday Club allows you to train in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment whilst keeping yourself accountable and on track to reach your fitness goals!
Sunday club works on a 3 week training cycle, for the the first 2 weeks we will be focussing on strength and muscular endurance and then the 3rd week puts all that you’ve learnt into practice and allows you to measure your progress.
After the success of the pilot sessions, I will be opening up a further 4 places for the next training block which begins this Sunday 17th July @ 9am. If you’re interested and want to hear more then comment here or ping me a message!

Darren had set his personal best at 1 RM @ 170kg deadlift at the beginning of the year. Today he topped that with a 185kg deadlift.🎉💪

Tuesday “You Can…Lift”
We hit the final week in teaching Barbell sn**ches!
We always start with working through the foundations and gradually build into a complex.
This weeks complex consisted of a power sn**ch, overhead squat and hang power sn**ch into a final overhead squat, focusing on technique and range of movement.
Next month we’re excited for working through the barbell clean and split jerk!
Feel Good Friday
Dry Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.

This month we are working on Clean and Split Jerks.
We break down the movements and work on the basics and fundamentals. By week 3 we work through the full movement and on week 4 we work on barbell complexes and incorporating the lift into a workout.
Consistency is key! And apparently a hat makes all the difference!😂

This month on Tuesday’s You Can Lift, we are working on the foundations of Olympic Lifting: Clean & Jerk.
We strip back the technique and run each individual stage separately, to give a fuller and confident lift!
It’s all about technique and dissecting each part and improving each stage to perform a better lift.

Failure is an inevitable part of growth.
We go through life fearing failure, fearing what others might think, fearing what you might feel within yourself.
It’s taken me years to embrace it and see it as a pathway to success.
Today (top right) I hit a PB on my Clean and Jerk @ 80kg. I decided to go an extra 5kg more (bottom right) and needed to drop more rather than punch my arms up. But it’s all about learning where we went wrong and correcting our path to reach our goal!
Don’t beat yourself up if you miss that lift or miss that session. Learn from it and move on!
