Today we are at The Destination Expo based at Newbury College. We are speaking to learners from senior schools across Berkshire about apprenticeships.
We have been celebrating our annual awards evening and are proud to be part of the Tigers group which is celebrating 30 years this year.
Congratulations to our awards winners, Sara King for Assessor of the year and Nikki Jordan for Employee of the year. Congratulations also to our apprentices, Kye Hall, Chantelle Holmes and Katelynn Calder.
Congratulations to Lisa Clyde, 4 years at Tigers Training Centre and Lisa Telford, 3 years at Tigers Training Centre.

Tigers Training Centre are proud to have been accredited to the MATRIX STANDARD
Learners interviewed were highly satisfied with the training and IAG support they received from their tutors and assessors as evidenced by Tigers questionnaires and the comments made to the matrix Assessor.
For example one learner said:
‘The assessor understand my needs and made me feel I am a person not a number. My tutor is always encouraging me and suggesting ways I can improve. I enjoy coming to the training centre and discussing my work with other apprentices. What we learn is relevant to my job. I think my assessor is great - helping with the assignments and helping me understand how what I’m learning helps with my job.’
Another learner said:
‘I came from out of the area and wasn’t sure what to expect. I found my apprenticeship on Indeed and the owner told me about Tigers and how good it was. My assessor is brilliant, really supportive and always giving me ideas about how to improve my practice and to make it fun.’
The Training Centre notice boards have got a new look for this term. Thanks to Nikki and Jane for their hard work to make them look so beautiful.

Remember that an Apprenticeship can be a good alternative to Sixth Form / College / University.
If you want to start working straight away, an apprenticeship will be your best friend. It's an opportunity to learn through practical work and get real experience and qualifications — all at the same time.

We have been researching cognitive and literacy development theories and information about phonics.
One of the theorists we have been researching this week is Jean Piaget. Piaget believed that learning through trial and error enhances a child's cognitive abilities. He also believed that cognitive skills that are related to a child's reading and writing abilities may be developed through make believe.
