Who’s up for tasting some Italian wines for Free then? On Friday 16th August, from 6:30pm, we will be showcasing some new arrivals alongside some of our old favourites from the world’s biggest producer of wine. Spaces are limited so comment below if you would like to take part!

Dave’s number 1. Who knew that Sancerre produces fantastic Pinot Noir? This old vine example from Jean Max Roger has some age too, with grapes hailing from the 2014 vintage. It’s fairly light but fully developed, with ample dried, red fruits, a hint of spice and notes of black olive on the finish. Delicious with white meats or game 🍷

Domi’s number 1. Meerlust’s top wine Rubicon is Stellenbosch’s answer to a top claret. It’s Predominantly a Cabernet blend that’s very deep and intricate. Think plum, liquorice, fennel, cedar and violets. A true masterpiece with cheese 🧀 🍷

Chris’ number 1. A biodynamic Sancerre from Alphonso Mellot, who’s an 18th generation winemaker. This wine has had a little ‘Malo’ which basically makes the acidity softer, or ‘creamier’ if you like.
Perfect with a crab sandwich!

Ben’s number 3. A Kiwi Sauvignon from Marlborough that punches well above its price tag. More citrus, less gooseberry. A Bit of time on lees gives it a more interesting mouth-feel. Pronounced “A-were-ta-ree”😀

Ben’s number 2. Provence’ oldest winery Peyrassol have come up with a belter here. Complexed and packed with mineral characteristics. He’s saying it’s the best rosé EVER…
