Emma is our Women’s Health/Pelvic Health Specialist Physiotherapist. She has over 18 years clinical experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist and currently divides her time between her role as a Pelvic Health Clinical Lead within the NHS and seeing private clients at Parham Physiotherapy.

She treats a wide range of conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, pregnancy related pelvic pain. She also performs The Mummy MOT ☺️ for those post-partum.

Our amazing founder Maria Elliott shares her thoughts for 2022.

‘My wish for 2022 is that mums get priority and the postnatal care that they deserve.

‘2021 has been a really difficult year for mums. Maternity services have been profoundly affected by Covid. This has meant a lack of face-to-face appointments, support clinics for breastfeeding, and mental health support.

‘There has also been an increase in the complexity of postnatal conditions presenting to clinics around The Mummy MOT network. We would like mums to find solutions so they do not need to live with C-section pain, pelvic pain, anxiety around pelvic organ prolapse, and that they know what exercises to do for diastasis recti.

‘2022 has to improve services to mums. We must get back to face-to-face appointments and a minimum of 6-8 week appointments for mums after having a baby.

‘Ideally, we want mums to be che
cked at 6, 12, 18, and 24 weeks even if the delivery has not been complicated.

‘The Mummy MOT has a central team and helps and supports mums through our social channels and our customer services helpline and we also have a dedicated army of Mummy MOT practitioners around the UK and Ireland.

‘We are here to do face-to-face consultations to support mums as they recover after having a baby. Mums are so important, no more so than in the family, the mum’s happiness and wellbeing are paramount to the health and wellbeing of the baby and her relationships.

‘It makes no sense that mums have 6-8 appointments when they’re pregnant and then zero or 1 after.

‘Let’s make 2022 year of the mums. Let’s find smart and efficient ways of looking after our mums using face-to-face, online and digital triage.’
