Tunbridge Wells Autistic Adult's Social is now on WhatsApp.

Please like this post once you reach the page if you would like to be involved in the group. I will then start a group chat where we can introduce ourselves and discuss the first meeting (whether that be online or in person).

No pressure to talk in the chat if you aren't comfortable to. Everyone is included regardless.

A few guidelines for the group. Serious post, but has to be done to ensure the group remains a safe space :)

Please feel free to suggest further guidelines to add.

1. Kindness, patience, inclusion, and non-judgment will be promoted in the group as far as possible.

2. No disrespectful, unkind, or discriminatory behaviour will be tolerated. All members should feel confident to speak up if they feel this has occurred.

3. A safe space where people feel able to talk about issues they feel vulnerable about, without any fear of judgment.

4. Confidentiality - Discussions had within the group should remain in the group.

5. No direct messaging until the recipient has confirmed they are comfortable with this.

6. If anything occurs within the context of in-person meets or online communication in the group that makes you uncomfortable, do not hesitate to contact me.

7. Enjoy it :) It's awesome to have our own corner with people that 'get it' and I'm excited to see where this may lead. I really hope that the group will serve as an opportunity for meeting other Autistic adults, finding support, and enjoying activities and events together.

Hi everyone :)

Welcome to Tunbridge Wells Autistic Adult's Social :) A brand new group, as you can probably tell. It will be very much member-led and to begin with we can talk about the sorts of things people might like to do and look at organising a first meet.

I am Autistic myself and completely understand the anxiety that can come up around meeting new people so we can discuss how to make this the most comfortable. Perhaps looking at beginning with a group messenger chat or meeting on MS Teams or Zoom before face to face.

I am open to any ideas people might have in order to make sure this is a comfortable and positive place to be :)
