How am I feeling? ✨

I’d painted these little circles a while ago and have only just drawn their faces on recently. The original illustration is on the wall outside Arthur and Elodie’s room and we look at it everyday and they tell me how they’re feeling. I love it. ❤️

My biggest thing as a mother has been to try and raise them as best I can. I’ve gone into it like I would a new job and I’ve loved researching and finding out about child’s psychology 😅🥸

Teaching them emotions; how to recognise them and verbalise them is very important to me. It’s taken me about 30 years to do it (🤣🤪) so if they have the tools now, how amazing is that. 👏🏼

I’ve always loved sending valentine post to friends 🥰 Chris and I don’t really do anything for valentines, but for me, I absolutely love sending post for people to open and to be told how loved they are. ❤️

Two designs from last year were super popular, so I’ve kept those on and added two more: an elegant and simple ‘love’ and a bright & vivid typography ‘love’ - I can’t wait to send them out!

I’ve also changed the card, so they are so luxurious and printed on a thick 400gsm ivory card 😍😍

Arthur recently went to London with his lovely granny and grandad to see the tiger who came to tea. It was only right that I sent a thank you card with this little tiger illustration I’ve had hidden away! 🥰🐯

I adore these ink paintings, I feel like I know all the women in each painting and I can feel every emotion of hers. 😅

These ink drawings were buried somewhere in my subconscious and I painted them so happily and with so much joy - I think that’s why I love all the women in them 😅 I feel like my ancestors. 💛

I’m adding them to Etsy this evening, there’s 7 original artworks, all painted with blue/black ink - they’re all unique and different sizes too. They’ll be online tonight once my little fish are asleep 😅✨

At a recent market, someone told me they would probably cry if they got this little card through the post. 🥰💛

I love hearing feedback and seeing how much everyone loved the mini card packs - I now just want 100’s of different designs in mini packs 🤩

This design was originally created for valentines but they’re turning out to be very useful for birthday cards or little notes in the post. 💌

This design was created especially for Arthur’s best friend who can name every type of dinosaur! 🦕😅❤️🥰

✨ Light ✨

‘There is light after the darkness & the light is so magical and bright it is almost blinding.’

I wrote these words down one morning and i couldn't get them out of my head so i knew i had to paint them too.

In January i talked to a young male doctor and he just got it, he knew something was wrong and tried his best to help me and check on me. I know it’s in his job description but it felt like he genuinely cared about the situation. After Arthur was born I struggled to leave the house to see a different doctor and when i finally got to the appointment was told i’d be 'over it soon' and to be grateful we were both alive.

In January I started anti-depressants (largely because of ), started NHS counselling & slowly learnt to give myself compassion and understanding, which i believe has been one of the biggest shifts in my mindset. I’m showing myself the same love i show my children. I now wake up happy and I look forward to seeing them both in the morning, there was a time when I just wanted to be alone or to leave the whole situation. My worst intrusive thought was that I needed to move country and leave, so everyone would be happier without me.

I can see now that was all a lie, that negative voice in my head (I call her Ursula) was lying to me and not letting me live.

I told a friend recently that since i’ve had children it feels like my heart has cracked open and I have hundreds of new emotions which i’m learning how to process and feel. It feels like they were sent to show me how to live and how to feel and that Elodie’s planned, serene birth healed me from Arthurs traumatic birth. She wisely told me that flowers will grow after you disturb the earth. 🌸

This morning I listened to and her brilliant podcast which featured her words are so comforting & reassuring:

‘We need to be the mother to ourselves and be able to see that our reaction, our spiral, our tantrums, our exhaustion, is a reaction to the circumstance, it’s not who you are. You’re a great mum, you've done an amazing job over the last two years, you’re feeling this because of what you’eve been through, not because of who you are.’ ❤️
