8 week course but can join anytime. Next course dates Nov 1st - Dec 13th. Drop ins welcome, just DM me. During a mat work pilates class I incorporate a number of different props. This helps keep the classes varied and interesting whilst the props do their magic in making exercises either more challenging or more accessible, flex bands, fitness circles, small stability balls, rollers to name a few.
I strive to make my classes friendly, warm and welcoming....to ultimately help people lead healthier lives. I have a deep desire to pass on my love of the many benefits of pilates. My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.

Wall squats better at lowering blood pressure All exercise is good for blood pressure but research suggests strength training is most effective.
A week ago today I had a hysterectomy. Your body isn’t your own and recovery seems so far away but slowly even the smaller and most simple movements return….all will be well 👍🙏❤️💪.

On a day like today…yep! Benefits of Napping
Homeostatic sleep drive is the technical term for the feeling of pressure to sleep. It is synonymous with the hunger we feel for food the longer it is after our last meal. When we wake up from a good night’s sleep, your homeostatic sleep drive is low. The pressure slowly increases throughout the day until bedtime, when we feel sleepy. Sleeping at night decreases sleep pressure, and then the cycle begins again the next day.
Napping during the day diminishes homeostatic sleep drive, which can help us feel more awake and perform better. As a result, napping can help with:
Reducing sleepiness
Improving learning
Aiding memory formation
Regulating emotions……yes please to all above ❤️
So lovely to get feedback like this! Makes my job so worthwhile. The power of pilates….and this lovely client is on zoom and has been for the whole of covid ….classes face to face and zoom and hybrid available on Tuesday and Wednesday-Tochpilates.
In order for 2 people to be REALLY good friends, each person has got to think that the other one is just a little bit more UNHINGED than they are. So um, that makes us VERY good friends as far as I’m concerned 🤪🥰😍☺️❤️👯🧜♀️🌈⭐️💫🌻🥂🧘 Happy birthday gorgeous friend, mentor and boss 😉
Mariella ‘To my surprise, I’ve become a middle-aged cliché when it comes to exercise. I am dedicated to finding the time for two or three yoga classes a week via Zoom, as well as a few three-mile runs.
I am sure that all this maintains my physical and mental health. If I stop moving, then ‘my mood drops and my body stiffens up.’
For women approaching or in the throes of menopause, knowledge is essential. Yet, until recently, there’s been no sense that women need any sort of literature or a chat about the end of our fertility, even though it’s just as significant a process as the beginning.
You’d think that an automatic perimenopause GP meeting in your mid-30s or early 40s would be an obvious and positive step. Every GP surgery in the land needs at least one Dr Menopause.
We are fortunate enough to have all manner of automatic health checks and screenings: cervical smears, bowel and breast cancer checks and the over-40s health checks. But why is menopause not on that agenda?
I never want to hear another anecdote about a GP appointment that ends with the doctor saying he or she doesn’t agree with HRT, or fobbing the patient off with a prescription for antidepressants.’

Chair yoga zoom class today...incorporating virabhadrasana II to utthita parsvakonasana to parivitta trikonasana to Urdhva dhanurasana and more! Joanne Spence “Using a chair allows REAL people to do REAL yoga. Over the ten years I have been teaching yoga from a chair, I have been able to persuade many a person that “yes, this really is yoga, and no, you do not have to stand on your head or be flexible to practice.” That prevailing image folks have in their heads about yoga intimidates many people. Historically, yoga was almost entirely non-posture based, as is evidenced by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra 1.2"Yogas citta vritti nirodhah," meaning “Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.” Yoga originated as meditation practice.
So, why do we continue to be bombarded by images from the yoga “industry” that make us think it is all about the slick arm balance of a super bendy person? Often, these poses are achievable by only a small percentage of people practicing yoga and may even be contraindicated for most people practicing yoga. So, let’s be real and honest. https://www.yogaalliance.org/About_Yoga/Article_Archive/Ten_Reasons_to_Do_Chair_Yoga.
