The David Adams Leukaemia Appeal Fund was set up by Mandie, who was David’s wife, with other close family and friends almost 21 years ago, when he unfortunately lost his battle with leukaemia. Despite doctors giving David ‘no hope’ at the time of his diagnosis, staff at the Royal Marsden Hospital were more tenacious, helping to prolong his life for another two years. Today marks one year since The Royal Marsden became the first hospital in England to introduce the newest model of the da Vinci surgical system, the da Vinci Xi, thanks to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Since then, the machine has been used to operate on more than 260 patients, allowing surgeons to operate with greater accuracy than ever before. Rita was the first patient to be treated using our da Vinci Xi robot a year ago; find out how she’s getting on here: http://bit.ly/1KJRHh3

Congratulations to our valiant team! They have soared past their target, and donations are still pouring in. It was a very hot day and there were some long delays on the route, but the team arrived back in fantastic form, full of smiles-and justifiably proud of their achievement.
