Ceramicist and painter who loves creating monsters.
Currently I am focussing on using raku-fired ceramics and watercolour paints to create monsters which are both beautiful and sinister. The over arching aim, running through all of my work, is to connect with people and to engage their imaginations. This is why I often focus on a story-telling approach, where a tale or event may be suggested through the characters I create. The hope is that the aud
WE DID A THING! 🔑🏡
After many years saving and searching we finally found and bought our first home together.
It’s a 2 bed, 1 bath 1950s bungalow with living room, kitchen and conservatory. PLUS a massive shed which we will (hopefully) be transforming into my new ceramics studio!
This means that I won’t be working on my ceramics for a while but I’m going to show as much of the new studio build as I can for those of you who are interested.
The shop on my website will remain open but orders may take an extra few days to arrive and I won’t be making any new stock until I’m in the new studio!
If you want to follow our progress with the rest of the house you can see everything we get up to at - Any advice and/or ideas are very very welcome! 🫶🏻
Mini Monsters have been very popular with you guys this month! Some glazes are now out of stock but there are many still available on my website. Place your orders now to take advantage of my new lower postage prices! [email protected]" rel="ugc" target="_blank">[email protected]

All of these monsters are handmade from the same flecked white clay and yet they've each been affected a differently by either the kiln firing or application of transparent glaze! Yet they still all sit together really well, don't you think?

Ah look at that texture! So beautiful and tactile, just asking to be held and loved. It's unusual for ceramic sculptures to be designed to be handled but mine definitely are...

When I originally started to develop my monsters, oh so many years ago, I thought about the mud, dirt and earth coming together to emerge from the ground.
What would such creatures look like? What would they do? And these are still the questions that I always come back to whenever I start to feel l little lost in my practice (which I think happens to all creative people from time to time).
I think these Naked Monsters are really starting the get to the heart of all of this. Naked, pure, beautiful and each one unique.
