The days can be hard and long for small businesses but it only takes that one sale to make them smile, that one great review to make them cheer, and that one thank you to touch their heart.

I just wanted to pop on and introduce myself and the new direction for SFTS!

I started Secrets from the Shires back in 2019 whilst also working for the The Wiltshire Liqueur Company. I was so in awe of the small local crafts people I had met whilst at shows, I wanted to be able to spread the love and their talents across the counties. I absolutely loved creating beautiful packages filled with high end locally made goods, even more so when covid hit in 2020.

Over the years many of these small businesses have moved on with their lives and although there are still many out there, it felt the right time to make the change.

It is however not the end….

One thing I became aware of whilst running my own gift business and supporting others, was how difficult it was to make that step from it being a hobby to actually making it a job that could sustain a lifestyle and family. It’s often not an option to employ someone on a permanent basis as demand changes so much throughout the year. My aim is to offer a service to small business as a general freelance assistant to fit in wherever is needed in the business to help them grow. Whether that is ad hoc work to help with a project, or to offer a set amount of hours each week with social media, administration, accounting and other endless tasks small businesses have to deal with alone.

In addition, I would also love to still support and share the love for small businesses so feel free to tag me or get in contact so I can share your amazing businesses on my social media platforms.

Working alongside small business owners I really do see the joy it brings when people buy from them. So much time and effort is put into sharing their passion so when you buy, the smiles are big 😁.

About last night…..

The unthinkable happened last night as I was getting ready for bed…..my kettle broke!! Naturally I chose the next best milky drink before bed. Thank you and Christmas Liqueur for helping me sleep a little better last night 🤣.

The only heavy lifting I did last week was carrying boxes of liqueur to and from the car….so I need to get back on it!
I have no excuse as there’s always 15 mins in the day to take some time for a little exercise so I’m back on it today. In fact I need this to build my strength to help me carry all those boxes 🤣

A little update from us…..

As you may have noticed our social media presence has been a little lighter than usual for the past few months.

I’ve certainly not been quiet, however my time has been taken up by new opportunities that have arisen. Therefore, for now, we will be hitting the PAUSE button on Secrets from the Shires gift boxes on our website.

A few points:

1. We are not closing, too much time effort and too many amazing connections have been made through the business which I love.

2. If you would like bespoke gift boxes we may still be able to help so please do get in touch.

3. Secrets from the Shires has grown from a love of supporting small businesses and we will continue to do so…..perhaps just in a different direction (plans are still underway)

4. We will continue to post, share and recommend our favourite small businesses out there with a view to maybe doing a directory in the future (small biz people….feel free to follow us for future posts)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the wonderful Alton Flavourfest with the Wiltshire Liqueur Company. What a beautiful day to be out meeting people offering a little bit of happiness in the sunshine. The Peach Liqueur was certainly a winner!
