Check out our latest blog post “To Panel or Not to Panel.” Panelling is an interior design technique whereby rigid panels – often wooden, though other materials have gone in and out of fashion – are installed on the interior (and sometimes exterior) walls of a property. The technique achieved its greatest popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries, when it was applied to the homes of the rich and influential. Back then, it served as a form of crude insulation, preventing the chill from bare stone walls from leaching into the room.
These days, it is more likely to be applied for decorative effect, which also explains the growth in faux panelling for interior design work. In this article, we’re chatting about both ‘real’ panelling and faux panelling and taking a look at some of the advantages in both of them. Check out our latest blog post “How Brexit has Affected the Design Industry”. Can you believe it? It's now more than three years since Brexit, when the UK formally stopped being a member state of the European Union, and over two years since the end of the transition period and the signing of a trade deal between the two states.
So much has happened since then! Check out our latest blog post. ‘How to Respond to Counter Offers in 2023’. The first couple of months of the year are a popular time for people to move on to new opportunities in their career. Many take the time over Christmas to appraise their lives and whether or not their current workplace is offering creative and financial satisfaction. They see a new year as a new page in their own personal story and the ideal time to search for a higher-paying position at another firm. Last year, we talked about handing in your notice and, in particular, what you should do if your current employer makes a counter-offer once you hand in your notice.
If anything, the topic is even more relevant in 2023 than it was in 2022. With the cost-of-living crisis, striking public sector workers, and a greater awareness of employee worth, companies are loathed to lose experienced and talented staff, so making counter-offers is now much more tempting for them. Read more about it here: www.careersindesign.com/blog/how-to-respond-to-counter-offers-in-2023.
