A family business based in Penketh, started over 13 years ago. When Andrew decided to become a firefighter, Kelly took over.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, general time with your families, quiet time on your own... Whatever you're doing this holiday season I wish you a healthy and happy new year. It's been a tough year for many so I truly appreciate all you lovely customers that have stayed with me. Thank you!
Has your lawn suffered after the hot weather? Could it use some help to get its green-ness back? Maybe you've got weeds sprouting up everywhere.
I can help. I'm a local business with many happy customers in the area. If you'd like a free, no obligation quote please get in touch.
Thanks, Kelly
In this hot weather please don't forget your lawns need a big drink. At least half an hour in either the morning or the evening is best.
If you're waiting for me to come and do your lawn I'll be there soon hopefully!
Look at these gorgeous photos one of my customers sent to me today. Achieving a healthy lawn involves teamwork. My schedule of treatments, plus regular mowing, gives lawns the best chance of looking like this.
If your lawn has had leaves or other debris sitting for a long time on them, please remove it as your grass will be dying underneath. Sprinkle a mixture of seed and topsoil on any bare patches to give it a headstart at recovering.
If you'd like a free, no obligation quote, please get in touch on 07919 102 643.
Have you done your first cut of the year yet? Don't take more than 1/3rd off at a time. Little and often is better.
Wishing all my followers and customers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
I've had several people ask me about coarse grass in their lawns recently. This is couch grass, an unpopular addition to a finely manicured lawn.
It grows faster and coarser and can really mess up your stripes. And the bad news is that the 2 ways to get rid of it are pretty extreme.
1. Kill that area of grass off completely and reseed.
2. Dig out that grass.
Neither of these are particularly popular choices!
What you can do is the following...
1. Remove it when you first see it start to grow before it spreads.
2. Cut your lawn in different directions to weaken it.
3. Don't leave it too long between each cut so it doesn't get chance to go to seed.
Unfortunately there is no easy fix for couch grass but keeping an eye out for it early is your best bet.
Let's talk red thread. Its a fungal infection in the lawn after warm, wet weather. It's unsightly but nothing to worry about. The best way to deal with it is to fertilise it. That's where I can help 🙂.
Speaking of which, I've seen a few lawns lately where people have tried to treat their own lawns. If you're going to do it don't be tempted to put too much on!! 😆
It doesn't look like we're getting the rain that was forecast so you really need to be watering your lawns. 💦
Top tips
✅ Wait until the evening when it cools down
✅ Water it for at least half an hour in each area, greater depth but less frequent is better than little and often.
✅ To check how far down the water has gone, scrape the soil in your borders, you'll be surprised how long it takes to get good depth.
✅ Greater moisture depth encourages root growth and resilience in dry spells. Only watering the surface makes the roots curl upwards.
I've had a few new followers recently, hopefully after the recent leaflet drop in the WA5 area (which is the only area I cover now).
Your lawns are really starting to come to life now so try and cut them once a week if you can. Little and often is best.
I'll try and post more often on this page as I've been a bit slack 🙈
Have you been watering your plants? Make sure you don't forget about your lawn. We've not had rain for ages and they could really do with a drink! ☔
So it's about time I posted something to this page isnt't it?
Spring treatments have now started so it's time to give your lawn its first cut if you haven't already. Ideally you should only cut the top third off each time. If it's been left long and you scalp it, you'll be left looking at brown stems.
Now is also a good time to check that your lawnmower blades are sharp. Dull blades tear at the grass rather than cut it.
