Factory busy day with another FAT for our UK client on an R290 140kW Process Chiller, 100% Freecooling.

The Factory Acceptance Testing is always a perfect moment to share performance and factory practice, first hand training and fine tuning product settings for the following units to complete the whole project.
Another big step in decarbonising an iconic UK industrial process, increase efficiency (Low Operational Energy) and dramatically cut Embodied Carbon.

It was great to attend The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Decarbonisation Conference on June 26th, held at the prestigious and iconic BMA House in London. Thank you, CIBSE, for the opportunity.

It was a fantastic event once again. As usual, decarbonisation is the key challenge of our time and a top priority in the Climate Change Action Plan.

The conference was very informative, providing a draft feedback on the UKNZC Building Standard work in progress. Key questions remain open, but it is essential to the decarbonisation path.

There were excellent case studies presented by delegates and sponsors.

Overall, it was a wonderful event in a lovely, warm, and dry London!

Just great, I feel more enriched now, I know my direction is the right one!

I’m happy to share that I’ve completed my course at of Cambridge online, Climate Change for Decision-Makers: Challenges, Transformations, Strategies.

What a great journey, for which I thank Professor Jorge E. Vinuales and Dr Ben Hinder. Your constant support and feedback has been a key factor in the learning process, and the course structure was just great.

I enjoyed the scientific and structured approach of Climate Change knowledge as a path, in starting from science moving to technology and systems, economics, law, geopolitics and finance. I enjoyed the logical path and the link from each topic with the following one, the zooming process from the wide view to the tiny concepts to give a sense of granularity to the whole picture.

And finally the daily interactions with my fellow learners were both enjoyable and valuable.

There is so much we can do to take care of our environment, not today only but in our daily private and business activities. We should – and in fact so many of us are already doing – if we care about ourselves and next generation lives. And yet many planetary boundaries have already been breached and trespassed as the Anthropocene pressure is growing and threatening the others.

The built environment can give a great contribution with the electrification transformation of Heating & Cooling systems. Primary energy is rapidly switching to renewable generation that is now cheaper than Fossil Fuels and Heat Pumps using Natural Refrigerants are both reducing Operational Carbon - by increasing efficiency - and Embodied Carbon (by 40% with R290).

As «forever chemicals» with their hideous PFAS are highly threatening the Novel Entities boundary (former Chemical Pollution) the choice of Natural Refrigerants is the answer in the HVAC industry. R290 Propane has GWP=0.072 (20-years) and a lifetime of 13 days in case of leak.

Let’s celebrate – this year again - the World Bee Day on 20th May 🐝🌿

Why it’s so important? Because with our behaviour we’re doing all our best to destroy this important species. Pollinator wild bees, but also butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities.
75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of global agricultural land depend on these important pollinators. Not only do pollinators contribute directly to food security, but they are key to conserving biodiversity.
The Anthropogenic pressure on Biodiversity continue unabated, the more we extract and burn fossil fuels the more CO2, NOx and global pollution we discharge in our vital troposphere.

In the Building Environment HVAC business we can give our strong contribution in reducing the GHG emissions with existing, well-established and proven technologies. The combination of R290 used as refrigerant fluid & Heat Pumps is giving already a great contribution into the right direction. Reducing Operation Carbon & Embodied Carbon is the way, and the bees thank you.

Great factory visit during MCE24 at EUROKLIMAT Milano plant.
Using R290 as refrigerant since 2006 is giving us the right confidence to exploit this fantastic Gas in a wide range of Heat Pumps, Chillers and Process Cooling machines.
So many different configurations, accessories (as Cu/Cu coils in case of aggressive UK coastal application) and ultimately High Temperature 70°C ASHP up to 710kW.

Because R290 is flammable, and it’s safe.

Embodied Carbon is the amount of carbon that we introduce into the system at the moment we install the HP, so it’s what we can call “𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻”, it is counted immediately and its value is much higher than Operational Carbon.
