* Megabloks (1 block and 3 block pieces)
* Marker pen
* Images of CVC objects (e.g. pig, book and hat)

✍🏽 Stick the images of the objects onto the front surface of the 3 piece blocks.
Using a marker pen, write the individual letters onto the 1 piece blocks to spell the name of the object (one letter on one block). Jumble the one piece letter blocks.

Rainbow Oats Plus Home Learning Activity Ideas With The Coloured Oats!

For each colour of oats we used:
1/2 cup of oats
An empty clean jam jar
1/2 tablespoon water
5-10 drops food colouring
Paper towel

✋ Method:
Place 1/2 cup of oats into a jam jar (one for each colour of oats that you wish to make).
Pour 1/2 tablespoon of water to the food colouring and stir (the water saturates the oats in color, allowing you to use less dye).
Pour the coloured water onto the oats.
Secure the lid onto the jam jar.
Mix the oats and food colouring together by shaking the jar until all of the oats are fully saturated (if the colour is not fully distributed, stir with a spoon or rub the oats together inside the zip-seal bag).
Allow the coloured oats to air dry by spreading them out onto a paper towel.
Enjoy and learn through play.
Store the oats in the zip seal bag/sealed container.

🍓 Little Learners Education- DIY Homemade Strawberry / Mango Fruit Roll Ups / Winders Recipe! 🥭

🍓 Ingredients 🥭
* 2 cups (400g) of freshly chopped strawberries or mango
* 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
* 2 tablespoons honey (optional for sweetness)

📖 Recipe
🍓Preheat the oven to 100c or the lowest temperature on your oven.

🍓Wash and prepare the strawberries/mango.

🍓 Puree the strawberries/mangoes using a food processor or blender until smooth.

🍓Pour the pureed strawberries/mango into a non stick saucepan.

🍓 Add the lemon juice and honey.

🍓 Cook on medium to high heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture turns to a thick jam consistency.

🍓 Line a baking tray with parchment paper and pour the mixture on top.

🍓 Spread the strawberry/mango mixture evenly with a spatula into a rectangle shape about 1/8 inch thick. (NB the fruit will lose some of its thickness in the oven so do not spread too thinly).

🍓 Bake in the oven for 3 hours until the fruit layer has dried out and no longer feels sticky.

🍓 Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

🍓Once cool place the fruit leather with the parchment paper onto a chopping board.

🍓 Using a pizza cutter/scissors cut the parchment paper and fruit leather into long strips.

🍓Roll the fruit leather and parchment paper into fruit rolls and secure with a sticker or piece of tape.

🍓Serve eat and enjoy!

NB: You can make endless varieties of flavours of fruit flavours!

♥️ To make each of the lavender bath bombs we used:
🥣 utensils-
1 mixing bowl
1 mini cupcake case
1 spray bottle
1 teaspoon

📖 ingredients:
2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops sunflower oil
Sprays of water
1 pinch dried lavender
Optional- food colouring

✋Method
Place the bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar, lavender essential oil and sunflower oil into the mixing bowl.
Mix the ingredients together.
Optional- add a small drop of food colouring.
Spray the ingredients with water.
Mould the mixture into a small ball.
Place the bath bomb ball into the cupcake case.
Leave to dry.
Enjoy the bath bomb!

To make the snowman bowling we used:
* 5 plastic bottles
* Cottonwool
* Paper
* Tissue
* Wiggly eyes
* Orange foam cut into the shape of a snowman’s nose
* Black marker pen
* 5 small socks rolled into small hats
* Glue or sticky dots
* Magnetic/wooden numbers 1 to 5
* White socks rolled into snowballs

Method
* Fill the bottles up with cotton wool/paper/tissue paper/ tissue.
* Using the glue, stick the eyes and nose onto the bottles.
* Draw on the mouth using a black felt tip.
* Stick the numbers onto the bottle with sticky dots or write them onto the bottle.
* Place the small socks onto the top of the bottle for the snowman’s hat.
* Set up the bottles in a triangular arrangement.
* Throw the snowball to knock down as many bottles as possible.

Learning opportunities:
- Counting aloud with one to one correspondence how many bottles are standing/have fallen.
- Identifying if more or less bottles are standing/have fallen.
- Recognising and naming the numerals that have been knocked down.
- Identifying and aiming for (knocking down) the numeral called.

❄️ How to Make a Snowstorm in a Jar ❄️

To make the snowstorm in a jar we used:
* Baby oil
* 1 teaspoon white paint
* 1 cup water
* Glitter
* 1 Alka Seltzer tablet
* Jar
* Image of a snowman

Method
* Stick the image of the snowman (facing inwards) onto the jar.
* Pour the water into the jar.
* Add the white paint and stir into the water.
* Sprinkle in some glitter into the jar.
* Pour the oil until it reaches near to the top of the jar. Observe👀 the water and oil do not mix.
* Break the Alka seltzer tablet into 4 pieces.
* Add one piece into the jar and observe the reaction.
* Add additional pieces for a blizzard!

Sensory Art Winter Themed Activity for Toddlers & Pre-schoolers - Puffy Snow Paint

To make the puffy snow paint we used:
1/2 cup PVA glue
1/2 cup shaving cream
Glitter
Coloured card
Wiggly eyes
Orange pom pom
Buttons
Ribbon, tied into a bow
Paintbrush
Mixing bowl

Method
Place the PVA glue and shaving foam into the mixing bowl.
Stir and combine together until it resembles whipped cream.
Sprinkle in the glitter and stir.
Paint your snowman or snowflake design onto the coloured card.
Add the snowman’s eyes, nose, buttons and scarf.
Sprinkle on some more glitter.
Allow the paint to dry, thicken and puff up.

Differentiate marks and movements on paper.
Using lines to enclose a space and draw shapes to represent objects.
Exploring and discovering
Creating and imagining
Describing- language and communication skills

To make the snow dough we used:

2 cups corn flour
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2-3 drops peppermint extract
Silver glitter

Utensils
Bowl
Spoon

Method
1. Place the corn flour into the mixing bowl.
2. Create a well in the centre of the corn flour.
3. Pour the oil, glitter and peppermint extract into well.
4. Stir to combine the ingredients.
5. Mould to create the snowball.
6. Break into smaller snow balls to build snowmen in activity 1.

Activities:
use wiggly eye, sticks and ribbon to create snowmen.
-add toy polar bears, rocks and penguins to create an Arctic small world scene.
Add rolling pins and cookie cutter to create a bakery.

Learning opportunities:
Measuring out the ingredients - supports following of directions and develops math skills.
Create an Arctic scene or bakery - promotes imaginative play and develops language and communication skills.

To make the ice salt painting we used:
Plastic bowls
Tuff tray
Paint brushes

Table salt
Water
Water pot

Method
Fill up the plastic bows with water.
Place it on the freezer to allow it to freeze.
Once frozen, place the ice onto the tuff tray.
Sprinkle some table salt onto the ice and listen to it crackle as the salt melts the ice.
Using the paintbrushes and paints, have fun painting on the ice!

Ice cube tray
Jug
Stirrers
Pipettes
Tuff spot

Method
Pour the water into the jug.
Add the bicarbonate of soda into the jug.
Add some glitter into the jug.
Stir to combine.
Pour the bicarbonate of soda water into the ice cube trays.
Pipette food colouring into the ice cube tray.
Place the ice cube tray into the freezer until frozen.
Once frozen, place the ice cubes on a tuff spot.
Pipette the white vinegar onto the ice cubes and observe the fizzing reaction.
Explore with different liquids (lemon juice, cola, lemonade) and observe the reaction!

Marshmallow Muffins baked in aid of Children in Need.

Quick & easy to make with your toddler or pre-schooler.

Makes 12 muffins

🥣 Utensils:
12 holed baking tray
Muffin cases
Mixing bowl
Spoon

👩🏾‍🍳 Ingredients
* 5 tablespoons melted butter
* 3/4 cup caster sugar
* 1 whisked egg
* 1 1/4 cup milk
* 2 cups flour
* 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
* 3 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 cup chocolate chips
* 1/2 cup marshmallows

📖 Recipe:
1. Mix together the melted butter and caster sugar into a mixing bowl.
2. Pour the milk and eggs into the mixing bowl. Mix the ingredients together.
3. Pour the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder into the mixing bowl and mix into a cake batter.
4. Add the chocolate chips and marshmallows into the mixing bowl.
6. Line a 12-hole baking tray with paper muffin cases.
7. Spoon the muffin batter into the 12 cases.
8. Preheat the oven to (fan assisted) 170c.
9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until cooked.
10. Once cooked allow the muffins to cool.
11. Serve eat and enjoy!
