i wrote this for the lads who fought and died on the somme in the First world war
Poppy on your chest
As I lay here in my trench, rats scuttling at my feet
Bodies’ strewn around me, just covered by a sheet
The horror that surrounds me, tunnels through my brain
Bodies decomposing, left where they were slain
The reapers scythe fell swiftly, some that’s not their fate
Their screams and moans fill the air, why is the reaper late?
The only winners in these wars are scavengers on the prowl
Their bellies full of human flesh, we hear their nightly howl
Boy soldiers shivering near me, weeping for their mom
Lives ruined before they begin on the Devils land, the Somme
My mind begins to wander, with memories of my home
Of Loved ones left behind, weeping all alone
Will our lives be better when this war is done?
Whoever wins this war, can they really claim they won?
Will our families still struggle to put food upon our plate?
To work and grovel all our lives is that to be our fate
What do we ever learn from war? Everything stays the same
Just waiting for the next one, and someone else to blame
Please do not forget us, we were this country best
All were asking for? A poppy on your chest
Like to thank the Scouts for everything they have done today selling poppies, also the Ahmadi muslim lads for all their help 👏👏
Once again thank you so much to today's volunteers inc the Ahmadi Muslim Association, Tom Mcneil,Emily and her mom Alexis and of course Wayne bear Ferris sarah coombes 👏

Appeal in West Bromwich 👏👏👏
Come and sell a “Poppy”
I’m asking for one hour, not much you will agree
To come and sell a poppy and give your time for free
That’s not too much to ask, for their sacrifice
You have an opportunity for you to be their voice
Although their lives are over, they sit within our heart
Whilst we still remember them, they never will depart
They gave their lives for freedom, without a second thought
In the face of tyranny, they went and bravely fought
They never saw their loved ones, to hold their hands with glee
They sacrificed their lives for us, just so we’d be free
We surely owe them dearly, even for a single hour
To show that we remember them, that is in our power
It’s not about the politics or what side you wear them on
But to show we are so grateful for those that now have gone
It fills your heart with joy for the esteem the poppy holds
It is a ancient symbol, but it never will get old
Come and meet the public of every faith and creed
Everyone is different, but the same blood we all bleed
If you can spare some time and you want to do your bit
Just get in touch with me, for the times you can commit

The Blood red Poppy
Why do i wear a poppy, some people say to me
I wear it for the people, who helped to keep us free
I’ve never served my country or been and fought a war
But I’m so very grateful for those that went before
When this land is threatened and all our lives could fall
I wear it for the military, who answer this countries call
They put their lives in danger to keep us safe at night
So as we can live in freedom, as is this countries right
It’s a sign that we are grateful, a small price that we pay
They gave their lives for us, so we can have today
So I wear this blood red flower, a symbol of our thanks
For Kings and Queens and parliament, this poppy flower, out ranks
So as the day gets nearer, that day we all reflect
Please show there not forgotten; please show them your respect
And when you see that soldier with medals on his chest
Thank god they gave their all for us, we are so very blessed
They must not be forgotten, and we’re proud to know there name
Just wear your poppy proudly, for those that claim no fame
Few from tonight's poppy appeal ,thank you to all who helped or contributed
DO I HAVE TO WEAR A POPPY
Do i have to wear a poppy?, it really up to you
They fought for you to have the choice; no one can force you to
The fields where filled with vibrant poppies all along the Somme
There red petals weeping in the sun, long after the soldiers had all gone
It was the perfect choice to remember all those that paid the price
Who fought for our freedom we thank them, for their sacrifice
So all we really ask, can you wear a poppy with remembrance and with pride
So as all who’s gone before us, our gratitude we never have to hide
But the choice is really down to you, that’s why they went and fought
But surely it’s a small price to show your thanks, with a poppy you have brought
An apt emotive symbol for every race and creed,
To show our thanks to those that died, in wars we did not need
From the battlefields of world war one to wars still on today
To wear this symbol on your chest is a small price we’re asking you to pay
So even if you don’t wear a poppy high upon your chest
Take a while; collect your thoughts for those that gave their best
For freedom is not given it’s fought for mile by mile
So as all of us can live as one, upon this earthly soil
So when the clock strikes eleven upon Remembrance Day
Give thoughts for those that gave their lives and never had a say
Just putting tesco dates on it's from the 31st Oct to the 13th Nov
12 to 8pm
Please let me know the dates you can do and I'll put you down ,even if you come for one hour plus dint worry if someone as put there name on that day the more the merrier, and to anyone who's never done it ,it's well worth it to see how kind all people of all nationalities and religions are to this cause
Lest we forget
