Tiny Tribe Outdoors
To provide a natural woodland environment to play, learn, work, educate and enjoy time in.
Run by a passionate group of educators who believe in the importance of children having meaningful access to the Natural world to develop a life long connection to it. We have ambition to grow anew with opportunities for other practitioners to engage with Nature pedagogy and through formally accredited training, the Forest School principles. We continue to work across the many children's disciplin

You know you are a forest schooler when......?
Ruth Hollands - I do remember telling very tech savvy 8 year olds that if they could find the fairy door at the far SW point in the woods past the heart oak, 3 hornbeams and one holly bush, there was a USB port to charge the phone. And no they couldn't Google what a hornbeam was π

The brain is a brilliant bit of kit, it takes years to optimise it, years and years. For when the younger brains drive you crackers, remember this.....
A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were then given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon.
At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon.
The teacher said to the students: "These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."
May your day be filled with happiness. β€οΈ

Am feeling all hedgehoggy, is it even a word?
Coco salt dough hedgehogs:
We had lots of fun making these little hedgehogs. We glued magnets to the back so that they would work as fridge magnets!
To make salt dough you will need:
2 cups of plain flour
1 cup of salt
3/4 cup (roughly) warm water
cooking oil
Cocoa power
Food colouring
Small twigs for the spikes
Method:
Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. If you want to make different colours, separate your mixture into two or three smaller bowls in equal parts.
Add a spoonful of cocoa powder to one mixture to make the brown dough.
Add a drizzle of cooking oil to each bowl.
Divide your warm water into two or three cups and add food colouring to the ones that you want to turn green or orange.
Add the water gradually, working one bowl at a time, and using hands to bring the dough together until it feels like play dough. If itβs sticky add flour, if itβs dry add water.
Make your models, push in your twigs, get creative! You can use paper clips to make hooks to hang your work.
Leave your dough somewhere warm to air dry (if it has twigs in it) I put ours on trays in top of the wood burner. (They were done in two hours.)
It can take a few days to air dry.
If you have no twigs in your work, cook on a very low heat in the oven for an hour or so. Keep checking your models.
When they are dry you can add paint, or varnish them. We use PVA glue. Varnishing them makes your models last much longer.
Have fun! Donβt forget to tag us in photos of your creations!
