WORK HAS STARTED 🙌🏼

As we all know, the building needs a lot of work to get it back to running efficiently.
As a CIC, we aren’t papering over any cracks !
Both the male and female changing rooms have asbestos in the ceilings, which needs removing.
Our contractor will be starting this essential work on MONDAY.
This is great news; we want to get swimming as soon as you do, and this is a huge step closer !
Unfortunately, it means we’ll be closed during the hours the contractors are working. This is short notice, and we apologise, but hope you understand this is progress.

This work is due to last two weeks.. no longer !
The centre hours from
MONDAY 1st JULY - FRIDAY 12th JULY will be
5pm - 9pm.

Please note, we’ve had to close during the day for the next two weeks due to essential asbestos removal works. We will still be open in the evenings 5pm-9pm as usual. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable and we apologise to all our regular daytime gym members but this work takes us closer to opening the pool. Please share to get the word out.

Whitworth Leisure Centre CIC are holding a large summer event in collaboration with Whitworth TLC.
📍 The Ashcroft
🗓 Sunday 21st July
🕛 12pm - 4pm

Along with other stall holders, we'll be running several stalls and activities of our own. We still need your support:

🍾 Any donations for our tombola - bottles, chocolates, 'smellies'
👠 👗 👔 Good as new clothing to donate for our Pre-Loved Pop-Up Shop, to be held in the Leisure Centre community area.

All donations can be dropped off at the Leisure Centre in the evenings, 5pm-9pm, or message us for collection!

We have just had this gorgeous little shoe handed in to us found outside the leisure centre. If you think this belongs to your little treasure, please bring them in, let's us coo over them, get smiles and then we will hand it over 😂😂😂

It’s nice to have progress we can actually see, rather than paperwork or the things which cost but aren’t visible.

The pool is empty, and the tlc it needs is underway this week.
Tiles are being replaced, a re-grout in places, a good clean, and maintenance on the pumps 🔨

We had our very first customer in the pool !
Just a little early… and they hadn’t paid 🙄
He had sneaked in through the fire exit whilst emptying the pool.
He definitely wasn’t in there prior, don’t panic 🐸
He’s been carefully re-located by the river 💚

📸 I’ve been on the search for some old photos of the Leisure Centre in preparation for The Princes Trust and thought you might like a look.

This week we are joining in the celebrations for National Volunteers' Week. Whitworth Leisure Centre CIC is STILL completely run by volunteers and we want to thank each and every one from the village who have stepped up and helped us get this far. Whitworth really is amazing.
We have a display in the Leisure Centre this week so please pop along, have a look and add your message of thanks.

Neil Harden, Adam Bywater & friends have spent the morning clearing the rubble at the rear of the building.
Massive thanks on behalf of Whitworth !! 👏🏼

We have The Princes Trust coming in a couple of weeks to see if our outdoor space is one they would like to spend a couple of weeks working on.

Ladies which turned up to her ‘Ladies Session’ have since had the confidence to come almost daily 🙌🏼
