I performed for her at gig at york racecourse a few months ago haha. She even remembers the trick!

So today I have an operation to have a metal pin in my big toe. At least I have bought my cards to have a practice whilst waiting! Every little bit helps, doesn't it.

Scrolling through social media, I'm constantly amazed by the talent of young magicians out there, which makes me wonder what I would be like now if I had started magic when I was younger. 🤔

Who knows where I will be now? But hey, better late than never, right?

There's something special about the dedication and creativity of young minds. They are closer to that childlike wonder all magicians try to capture and create.

On the other hand, with age comes... well, let's just say, life experience can add a certain depth to your performance, right? (Or I forget my tricks quicker!)

But then, looking at successful individuals who found their calling later in life is a powerful motivator, and I don't feel as bad!

⭐ Alan Rickman became an acting legend later in life, with his first role at 42 (coincidentally, my starting age too!)

⭐Samuel L. Jackson was 46.

⭐Stan Lee first published his comic at 39.

So maybe there is hope for me! I just need that determination and focus, which I struggle with.

Here is a photo from a few weeks ago, when I was about to do a quite interesting trick, taken at the Lord Mayor's Ball.
It was a lovely event and I had the pleasure to perform for the last Lord Mayor several times throughout the year.

A week today, I go for surgery to get my big toe joint pinned. A little nervous and will be off from performing live for a while.

I injured it 8 years ago whilst on holiday in Costa Rica. After a boat trip through the jungle to a small villager doctor for some anti-inflammatory and pain killer (injected into my bum!)

2 years ago I started getting pain and this year after an x-ray and MRI, it showed arthritis had set in.

I guess it will be a good time to practise some magic and also work on some admin and try to get some more leads for when I am back to fighting fitness!

Lots to look forward to this year. (Hopefully, I recover quickly from my upcoming operation!)

As it's getting near Summer I thought what better than to start practising some spooky type of magic. It's something I always wanted to do. Hopefully This Autumn I'll have something to show!

Last week I had the privilege of performing close-up magic on the York Pride River Cruise, where my magic helped add a touch of wonder to the closing celebration of a phenomenal York Pride weekend. Magic has a way of bringing people together, no matter their background, creating a shared experience of wonder and joy.

So who, like me, has little interest in the Euros? It was kind of fun being in the national press last year over my wife and I's England/Spanish rivalry and my son supporting both.

This year I have no enthusiasm...

Magic to me is more than mere entertainment, but also a powerful tool for inspiration and happiness! Magic evokes a sense of wonder and innocence in all of us that should be cherished.

Even if they are brief, I feel privileged to rekindle that childlike wonder that many people tend to lose as they grow older and face the harsh realities of life.

However small it may be, for one moment, that person is experiencing happiness, reminding them that there is still magic in the world.

I love performing at weddings because it combines two of the best things: love and magic! There's nothing like seeing the smiles and joy that a bit of magic can bring to such a special day.
And as the quote goes, they both take practice but are well worth the effort...

Well folks, York Pride weekend came to a very relaxed and happy end last night, with our Cruise Down The Ouse, fish and chip supper event.
