I’m pleased to say the kiln gods were kind and all pieces from a recent workshop at the survived! They have been delivered to the museum today ready to be picked up.

I’m loving all the weird and wonderful ‘beasts’ that were made!

I’ve had a lovely couple of days spinning and weaving with Lorena and Amy at Gorefield Alpacas Open Weekend. I haven’t done any weaving in ages but I feel inspired again! We started a group weaving using the yarn and fleece from the alpacas on site, if you fancy helping to finish it, I’m going to continue it at the on a Wednesday 😊

I had a very enjoyable, chilled afternoon doing slow stitching with Amy

Beautiful sky this evening. Sunsets in the Fens are THE best 💛

I love the stained glass at especially the projection (is that the right word?!) of coloured light onto other surfaces. Beautiful 🌈

Some of the amazing hybrid animals that were created in clay last week
We couldn’t resist recreating a photo of a young person who had attended a similar workshop about 5 years ago!

Just need to wait for it all to dry out and then be fired in the kiln 🔥

Looking forward to facilitating a workshop this Thursday at the Wisbech & Fenland Museum. We will be making Clay Hybrid beasts using terracotta clay, inspired by the museum’s current exhibition Beasts: Epic creatures real and imagined.
What animals would you put together to make a new creature?
I think I’d have to include cat features, perhaps mixed with a bird or a spider?

I think there’s a reason I normally read on the bus… bumpy Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire roads are not the best for sewing! But I guess it’s better to do something imperfectly than nothing perfectly.

Just a few weeks left to enter the Young Arts Open exhibition/competition at Wisbech & Fenland Museum 🖼️🎨🖌️

I popped into Wisbech & Fenland Museum to The Secret Little Art Show. Artists have donated postcard sized artworks that the museum are selling for £10 each. None of the artworks are signed on the front, so you don’t know who you are getting until you decide to buy it!
I came away with 6 artworks yesterday…!
I did do a piece for the show but forgot to take a picture and it sold yesterday!
If you’re thinking of going, the museum has free entry for the next couple of days and artworks are going fast!

22/11/2023

The Secret Little Art Show opens tomorrow at 10am.

Entry is free from Wednesday 22 November to Saturday 25 November, 10am to 4pm.

A full list of participating artists can be found on our website:

Had fun yesterday experimenting 😁

I did a bit of sewing, printing on fabric and rubbings of old book covers.
I’m a little bit in love with this book cover 💛 depicting dandelions, one of my favourite plants.

Now to find my stash of old coins and relive my youth with doing some coin rubbings!
No idea what I’ll do with them, but it’s fun! I’m thinking they’ll make great collage material and I’ve got some collages I want to finish…. so maybe I’ll actually finish a project!!

There’s a rather lovely little garden in the Octavia Hill Birthplace Museum.

I’m in awe of the mosaic depicting Caroline and James Hill (Octavia’s parents). It can’t be easy to create a portrait in teeny tiny tiles!

There is another mural in the garden ‘Do good deeds, not dream them’ that completely blows me away each time I see it. Reading the good deeds done by others over the years is emotional. Most of them sacrificing their own lives to save others. Although their stories are very sad they do give me hope for the goodness out there after usually being bombarded in social media and the news by negative information.

Some pics of our visit to Summer At The Beach last weekend. We really enjoyed joining in with the print making, it’s made me want to get my inks out again!
The quality of artwork that was being exhibited was really outstanding too. I’ve been trying to convince my husband that we need a giant fen tiger sculpture in our life!!

Missy ‘helping’ me to prep tiles…. Although she does keep trying to eat them which is a slight concern!

I’m back at the Wisbech & Fenland Museum tomorrow 10am-2pm. All welcome to come and help create the mosaic that when finished will be displayed in their beautiful courtyard.

Thanks to everyone who came to to help contribute to the mosaic yesterday! I’m there again on Saturday 29th July so if you haven’t popped in yet there’s still chance.

These toilets look beautiful! Nathan “Nyces” Murdoch - street artist has worked his magic again.

I do wonder if they are as nice on the inside though… 🤣

Been playing with lavender at Wisbech Eco Hub and Heritage Centre crafternoon. Weaving lavender wands and using pressed lavender to make a card with an adorable little bee!

I 💜 lavender!

I had a lovely afternoon sewing Wisbech Eco Hub and Heritage Centre
I also got to check out the exhibition there at the moment. I love the Snow Moon over Stretham by Veronica of The Fens.
I also had a cheeky muffin (vegan raspberry which was amazing!) and cuppa tea from Mally’s which are based in the Octavia Hill Birthplace House when it is open, read a book about trees and nearly cried reading about some real life superheroes and their selfless acts on a display in the gardens.

Quite a lot of name dropping there! It’s been a while since I posted so thought I best get in as many people as possible.

Are we still doing hashtags?!

Any young artists out there who want to share their work?! Wisbech & Fenland Museum are holding an art exhibition for young artists under the age of 24.

Be kind 💚
To others and to yourself. When I think about what’s important to me, it’s kindness. Sometimes it’s easier to be kind to others but not yourself. We put expectations on ourselves we would not expect of others. If we make a mistake, we criticise ourselves. Whenever I’m feeling not good about myself I try to think how I would feel if a friend was in a similar situation and what I’d say to them. Usually it’s quite different to how I feel or what I say to myself!
While at the park Saturday I was admiring the clover and used it to leave this little message for someone else to find.
I’m also pressing and drying flowers again this year, mostly wildflowers found on walks but also including these lovely hydrangeas my good friend gave me. Gorgeous 💕
