Last week, we saw the wrap up of UK Disability History Month.

This year, the emphasis was highlighting the experiences of youth and children with disabilities. It’s difficult to imagine what it’s like to navigate all the complexities of being a kid without having to imagine having the added restrictions society tries to place on people who use wheelchairs.

That’s why we think it is so important to provide children and adolescents with as many opportunities to harness their power and mobility so that they can speed about, race, and play.

We partner with numerous manufacturers and dealerships that make custom chairs and add-ons, specifically designed for little growing bodies that will allow kids to, well, just be kids.

Recently, Elisabetta Predan travelled to the Dolomites in Italy and embarked on a trip to the stunning 3 Peaks. For anyone, this could be considered a moderately challenging hike but in a chair…some would say it was too difficult.

Luckily, Elisabetta shares our belief that the some who would say such things are talking absolute nonsense. In tandem with her Klaxon add-on, Elisabetta enjoyed the adventure of a lifetime with breathtaking views of the World UNESCO Heritage site.

This year the focus revolves around the fact that many countries are off-track when it comes to meeting certain goals for inclusion of persons with disabilities. These goals are based on the sdgaction Sustainable Development Goals, the aim of which are to make a better and more sustainable world for everyone.

At Susurro, we are aiming to make more situations accessible for those with mobility issues. We strive for a world where everyone, regardless of differences in ability, can live a full and active life. Together, with our manufacturing and dealership partners, we want to do our part to ensure inclusivity by advancing the world of mobility, one customisable wheelchair at a time.

Last week, we were lucky enough to have a stand at the Occupational Therapy Show at NEC Birmingham

It was an absolute pleasure to showcase one of our incredible add-ons, the Decon WheelDecon Wheel 16” E-Drive.

We were able to show off the durability of the E-Drive’s design, highlighting that it strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and speed while working in a wide range of environments. November 23rd was Carers’ Rights Day in the UK.

At Susurro, we pride ourselves on making mobility and quality of life accessible for all. Through our work, we feel that we provide enrichment and assistance to ensure our wheelchair riders and users can live with as few restrictions as possible.

However, we find that that assistance often does not extend to the carers, both paid and unpaid, in some people’s lives; they are often overlooked, forgotten, and unsupported. We want to acknowledge the physical and emotional labour put in by all carers throughout the UK and extend a huge thank you for all that you do!

Join us in showing support! Share with a carer in your life and let them know how appreciated they are. Feel free to share how your life has been impacted by care workers. We would love to hear your stories!
